Reviews for Quadratec Aluminum Modular Front Sway Bar Skid Plate for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT
Very easy to install. Exactly what I wanted to hide the "fangs" from my 2019 Jeep Sport. It worked well with my Rugged Ridge Arcus bumper w/ a winch.
This thing is simple to install. And, as was mentioned above, a stubby ratchet makes it MUCH easier. But, after I got it fully bolted in, I got up in there with a long handled ratchet to put enough torque on the bolts.
It looks real nice and is super stout!! It also has adjustability in the mounting angle. Sad that Jeep used such a flimsy POS as stock.
FYI....the color is listed as “silver” but that’s a relative term. It’s more a muted greyish color. Still looks great though!
Sturdy part. Nice upgrade over the flimsy piece of metal from the factory, and looks nicer too. Install was relatively easy alone. A short-handled socket wrench is advisable to speed things up a bit, a longer handle can get caught up on the track/sway bars when tightening things down.
Fast shipping after the item became "In Stock" again. Fit well. A one star ding for a welded nut on the passenger side bracket detaching. No problem torqueing using a wrench on both sides, but a welding quality issue existed.
Like the skid plate, but it does not simply bolt on. The holes in the frame rails do not line up to mount it without some modifications to the frame rail holes. You will need to widen one on each side to make the mount. Not a huge deal, but that seems to be a design flaw. The should line up perfectly and they don't.
The skid plate itself is very light weight and very well made. My only negatives are the basic zinc hardware (I got stainless at fastenal) and I’m not crazy about having Quadratec stamped into the plate. I’m just not into having brand names all over my stuff. Other than these two things it’s very nice.
No issues turning with 315s mounted on my wheels.
JL 2-Door Rubicon
Works well enough, covers the fangs, can take some beatings, and compatible with my fab fours stubby. However, if you have the same bumper, know that install will take longer, getting to the bolts will be harder (assuming you're keeping the bumper on), and there will be contact between the skid plate and your bumper. Great purchase.
Easy install. When I upgraded to 35's, I had to cut a 1/4 of an inch off both ends to stop the tires from rubbing. Since 35's are common on the Gladiator, I recommend that you modify the width in the future.
Well priced, nice piece. But notably as mentioned in another review it definitely does not work with the winch plate as the same two bolt holes are utilized and they won't work together without modification.
Well built and looks great. The reason for my 3 stars is because I have a 2 inch Mopar lift with 35-12.50’s and my tires rub on it when I crank the wheels both ways.
