Like many other manufacturers, Omix-ADA lugged all their new products and several display vehicles out to the recent Specialty Equipment Market Association in Las Vegas. However, the company’s most important contribution perhaps wasn’t anything in the booth itself, but something parked right in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Grand Lobby.
For it was there the company rolled out this year’s SEMA Cares Jeep Build – a 2016 Hydro Blue JK Rubicon that was specially transformed by the automotive experts at Petty’s Garage in Level Cross, North Carolina into what the company called 'the ultimate off-road masterpiece.'
The custom Jeep is the fourth time Omix-ADA has partnered with SEMA Cares and the third time that a one-off custom Jeep will be offered at auction. Last year’s edition, built by DUB Garage, sold for $100,000. This year’s build will be auctioned off in early 2017, with all proceeds to benefit Victory Junction – a camp founded in memory of Adam Petty, Richard Petty’s grandson, and is dedicated to enriching the lives of children affected by serious illness or chronic medical conditions. Adam Petty was killed in a 2000 race accident and his stated dream was to build a camp for children.
Petty’s Garage incorporated a host of new Omix-ADA/Rugged Ridge products into this year’s build; including the manufacturer’s upcoming track lighting system and Euro-Spec XHD Aluminum Wheels.
The SEMA Cares Committee was established by SEMA’s Board of Directors in 2007 and strives to make a positive difference through outreach programs and various fundraising efforts. SEMA Cares makes its mission to foster industry leadership by supporting the education of students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket.
