LAS VEGAS — They stuff five full-length halls with nearly everything you can imagine for automobiles when the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association event comes to town each November.
And it turns the Las Vegas Convention Center into the world’s hub of industry activity — from simply parts and accessories, to new trends, vehicle builds, overlanding advice, legislative activities and a host of other topics.
At least for a week, anyway.
North, Central, Upper and Lower South and West Halls. All of them.
Nearly seven million square feet of indoor and outdoor space are utilized in this event, as well as over 2,400 manufacturer exhibits, 3,000 new products and 1,500 display vehicles.
But for all SEMA is, the event itself is only open to those in the automotive industry. So why should SEMA matter for those enthusiasts who can’t attend?
Here’s why.
Discover New Off-Road Accessories and Gear
Each year, SEMA is a hotspot for the latest Jeep accessories, from heavy-duty recovery kits to innovative roof racks, tops, lights, winches, wheels, tires and hundreds of other items.
Brands across the globe arrive in Las Vegas to showcase all these new products, and online coverage gives you a firsthand look at gear that can enhance your Jeep’s off-road potential.
Additionally, this year, with the 2024 Wrangler models now in circulation, it is important to know what new products are designed exclusively for that vehicle as Jeep did make running changes to the ’24 and newer Wranglers.
Keep Up with the Latest Jeep Customization Trends
Products revealed at the annual SEMA show set trends in the Jeep community for the upcoming year — from cutting-edge lift kits to upgraded front, side and rear protection, innovative lighting options, all the way to everyday new Jeep maintenance items that are perfect for the DIY person.
Following SEMA event coverage means you can stay updated on the latest styles, modifications, and technology, and can start making plans to purchase those products that really interest you and will make your Jeep stand out just a little bit more.
Virtual Demos of Performance Upgrades
Many SEMA exhibitors not only release pictures and videos of their product, but they also allow attendees to physically see (and touch) all these new items. So coverage can be pretty thorough, from build quality to functionality, as well as each attendee's personal opinion on how a new product may perform.
Additionally, many platforms (like Quadratec’s social media) allow you to ask questions, so if you see a featured product you like, you can find out more by just asking — helping you make informed decisions for your own build.
Inspiration for Your Next Jeep Build
Each year, the SEMA Show is packed with unique Jeep builds, such as rugged overland rigs, trail-ready rock crawlers and over-the-top ‘Battle of the Builders’ creations.
And while most people are not going to totally mimic these vehicles as they fill out their own builds, they can get a nice glimpse of what certain products will look like after installation.
Media coverage of these custom Jeeps provides endless inspiration, hopefully sparking ideas for your next project or upgrade.
Exclusive Coverage from Industry Professionals
Whether it is the Quadratec YouTube page, Torque, or another publication, most SEMA Jeep-focused coverage is crafted by long-time, knowledgeable professionals who know what to look for on a new product, understand the questions to ask and realize how important providing detailed coverage of these items, trends and builds are to those who can’t attend the event.
Learn About New Recovery Gear
Recovery equipment for Jeeps is a big part of SEMA. And while this category isn’t limited to the overlanding field, SEMA does set up an entire overlanding destination filled with vehicles that put these products to the test.
SEMA event coverage includes plenty of highlights on the newest winches, tow straps, and recovery boards, as well plenty of other equipment. It also describes why each one is crucial to employ in your vehicle’s recovery arsenal so you can follow along and explore the latest gear to ensure you’re prepared for your next adventure.
Get the Inside Scoop on Upcoming Jeep Tech
SEMA week often reveals numerous technology-focused upgrades, like advanced GPS systems, infotainment upgrades, navigation lights, safety features and other enhancements specifically designed for Jeeps. Also, as hybrid and electric vehicles such as the 4xe Wrangler become more and more mainstream, SEMA highlights advancements in this technology, as well as how manufacturers across the world are adapting to electrification.
Follow New Products from Top Jeep Brands
Major Jeep brands use the annual SEMA event as a platform to introduce products and showcase prototype builds. For those who are not able attend the event, but who have heard about these things, SEMA coverage is the perfect way to keep up with announcements from brands like Mopar, ARB, and Bestop to see what’s coming next for Jeep enthusiasts.
Legislative Happenings
Not only does SEMA help manufacturers show off new products and ideas, but the organization itself is heavily involved in protecting the rights of these manufacturers against laws designed to hamper aftermarket product consumption.
So SEMA event week is always full of highlights about what the organization is currently involved with across the country, as well as what it is doing to maintain recreational motorized use of public lands.
Any by following along during SEMA week, you'll know as well.
Engage with the Jeep Community and Share Ideas
The SEMA Show is a unifying event for Jeepers worldwide. By following the event coverage, you can connect across multiple platforms with fellow enthusiasts to share ideas and stay engaged with the community’s passion for trail-ready innovation and customization.
