Description
Anyone who drives a Jeep, particularly a manual shift vehicle, knows the importance of knowing your RPMs. The Crown Automotive Tachometer replaces the factory gauge and looks identical to maintain the original look. The same gauge works on all 4,6 and 8-Cylinder engines, a switch on the back is available for you to select the correct application.
Minor re-wring is needed, refer to the manufactures installation instructions to see the proper wiring configuration. This item is compatible for a number of Jeep models, including CJ-5s from 1976 to 1983 and CJ-7s from 1976 to 1986.

Factory Fit: No cutting or modifying the dash for this to fit, it is identical to the factory fit and function so you maintain the original look of the Jeeps interior.

Easy to wire. Font doesn't quite match OEM but what do you expect for a vehicle that hasn't been made for over 35 years.

Can you tell me if the gauge illumination looks the same as factory? I do not want a modern looking (LED or White light) when the rest of the dash looks like traditional incandescent bulbs. Thank you for you help.
This gauge is OE replacement in every way. The illumination comes from a small incandescent bulb. The only reason it may not match the other gauges would be due to the age of the bulbs in them

Since this requires a 3-inch hole what is the overall diameter of the face of the Gauge?
In the description it states that there is no modifying needed to a dash that has been prepped for the factory tach. The factory tach hole is not 3 inch, is smaller.
The widest diameter is 3-1/4 (at the bezel). There is a 1/8" lip around the face. The brackets at the back are actually 2-15/16" apart, so a 3" hole will accept the gauge and the bezel will keep it from floating in the opening

What size hole is needed for this particular gauge? My Dash is not prepped for a stock tank.
