Crown Automotive Complete Exhaust Kit Reviews
I have an 87.
Required the pipe from the cat to the muffler to be cut 1.5"
The "hanger" rubber provided for the rear most mount doesn't apply to an 87. I had to cut the factory exhaust off the factory hanger, then extend factory hanger to make it hang lower.
The outlet near the top is wrongly called an o2 sensor port in another review. That is for the pulse air system's up stream inlet. It is curiously threaded, but you use an exhaust clamp to connect your existing pulse air tube to.
The cat requires you to cut the air inlet in order to hook the pulse air tube up. My cat was not factory, so I'm not sure how that was originally accomplished, I had a rubber coupling hose clamped.
I also had to extend my down stream pulse air tube. This might have been caused by me having an aftermarket cat before using this kit.
This isn't necessarily a simple few hour job.
At the bare minimum you need to drop your skid plate (This involves supporting the transmission) and take down your rear track bar. I had to also drop the passenger side spring and shock just to access the rear track bars bolt.
The exhaust seems good enough, and the over axle section looks like it should last a good long time since it was aluminized after welding.
Went in pretty easily given I was doing it by myself. Fits well. Prior review complained about muffler being reversed. Not an issue. Goes in as it is intended. One star off for no flange bolts. Also should have a bolt to cap O2 hole because early models (mine is 1988 YJ) have O2 sensor in manifold and not in exhaust.
Went in fairly easy. Seems to be a direct fit. Does not come with flange bolts for the catalytic converter. 1988 YJ
