Part is not as heavy as original part but fits perfectly. Also, there is no vent as there is in the original. I don't know if the soft top tailgate is different than the hard top version, but there was not choice so I got this one anyway. I hope it isn't a problem on the freeway.

What gauge is the steel?
It's approximately 0.037" thick which is slightly thicker than 20 gauge. Thank you for the question.

Will the handle, latch & linkage and lock cylinder from my 1999 Wrangler original factory tailgate fit into this one without alterations?
