I used mine with my 1995 YJ. It does not fit tight in the back, I did have an extra rail from my bestop soft top that I used to stretch it out back further on top of my aftermarket tire mount. It appeared this was a return as most of the packaging was opened. I am assuming they went through the same issue, I do not see any other way to make tighter other than pulling it back from the tailgate another 3 or 4 inches and hooking it.
