Dont really care for soft top but could only find jeep in color i wanted in a soft top so getting hardtop
i'd like to offer a two-part review.
The ordering and delivery was flawless. Packaging was very secure, and all the parts were accounted for. Once we successfully installed it, the hardtop is great..
Now.. I would like to b***h about the instructions. They are perhaps passable if you do these installations on regular basis. For a first-time novice, no matter how technically handy you are, they were beyond terrible. For a purchase of over $3.5K, i would expect a set of instructions that are more than dot-matrix grayscale stick figure sketches, devoid of any color or text, with similarly grayscale arrows being the only guides. Instructions are very high level, leaving you having to do a lot of guess work. And..., they left out a crucial step that would instruct you to remove the native rails and brackets that come with the soft top vehicle. This step might be obvious had you done the soft-to-hardtop swap before, but is not intuitive for first-timers. What ends up happening is you lift the 140 lb hardtop and hoist it onto the body, and try to position it in place, only to realize that you are forcing two shoes on one foot. At this point you must either backtrack or have someone strong balance the top on the edge of the body while you remove the four (4) side rails, plus the two front brackets. Once you’ve cleared those 6 parts, the hardtop falls into place. But it would be nice to have a manual that actually thoroughly guides you thru the process, rather than give you 30%.
