EVO Manufacturing Pro Series Hinged Gate Tire Carrier Reviews
Great product and an easy install. It brought my tire much closer me to the body and relieves any anxieties I had of mounting a large tire on the stock carrier. Having a longer torx as they recommend definitely helps. I can’t give the fifth star however because they product seems to have been updated but not the installation instructions. Specifically the rubber bumpers in the hinge are not little round ones. They are long oval/triangular in shape. I had to search for images and finally found a few on Evo’s Instagram page. The rounded part goes closest to the body. It was also necessary to remove the tail light in order to have access to the screw for this part as it blocks access to the bolt for attaching the hinge to the body. In my research I also found some people recommended getting longer bolts for the ones that attach thru the spacers instead of reusing the stock ones. I had no issue threading and tightening these but I could see why some people would upgrade these.
Very well made unit!
I don't probably fit the profile of most EVO customer in that I am a Overlander that runs factory rims and 255/80R17 tires. I need this carrier to support the extra weight of a Titan fuel tank. This carrier is not designed for factory depth rim backspacing. This is required to mount Titan fuel tank. So took it to a friend we weld it further out on the adjustment bracket beyond the bolt hole and added a piece square tubing as reinforcement. Now the unit works great and I had a great trip Death Valley, Mojave Road and Sedona AZ and did not have to worry about running out of fuel.
