The spare tire carrier on your Wrangler's tailgate was really only designed to carry the stock size spare tire. Before you install larger wheels and tires, you need to consider how you're going to carry that new full size spare. Depending on just how large of a tire you need to carry, you might be able to simply use a Tire Relocation Bracket. Moving the mounting location up and away from the tailgate, this will give you the extra clearance you need between the bumper and tailgate to carry the larger tire.
When installing a 35" or larger tire on your Jeep, the tailgate on your Wrangler may not be able to actually support the extra weight. If this is the case, there are heavy duty tailgate hinge carriers than can securely support the extra weight. Or for the ultimate solution, look to bumper mounted spare tire carriers that can handle even the heaviest spare tires.
