B&M Racing Magnum Grip Pro Stick Shifter Reviews
In reference to the previous review… I had to get this for my 06 Wrangler unlimited. With the exception of it being a bit stiff, we have NO issues with this part. It lines up exactly with the what gear you are in and I don’t see it being off at all. My part was installed by a professional mechanic. That might be the difference. It is very hard to find parts for my Jeep and it’s nice when you can get a part that works well.
I purchased this shifter as a replacement for my stock shifter on a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport. Mechanically the works, it does shift the transmission between each gear, and clicks in to a designated point in the shifter gate. The problem became oblivious when completing the install and putting on the trim plate. There is a design flaw in the shifter that B&M struggled to understand before finally giving up and telling me that "we can't fix it". The flaw it that the shift position readout window is so far off, it is a total guess what gear the transmission is actually in. Unless you want to count the clicks as you move through the gears, there is no way to know what the position of the shifter is in unless you shift all the way to 1st and count up, or stop and go to park and count down! This shifter was meticulously installed after watching the YouTube video several times. The part of the video that instructs hooking up the linkage to the shift arm is glossed over, and you never see the shifter actually in any specific gear. B&M supplies a bent wire "shift linkage" rod to connect the shifter to the gear selector display window. There is only one way to put it on, and there is no kind of adjustment of any kind. I sent B&M many pics of the install, the position of the shifter in each gear and the lack of the display showing anything ever close to reality. The engineers that allegedly reviewed these pics over and over simply could not figure out how to correct the problem. So after spending over $325 for a "brand new quality shift product" it turned out to be a joke. They strung me along since November of 2022, promising that they were working on it, but really just to get past the return window and cheat me out of a solution. Included are pics of the shifter I sent to B&M for their review. This is the first of many websites that I will post this review regarding this huge failure by B&M. Too bad, they used to be a responsible company.
