Reviews for WARN 101337 Elite Series Full Width Front Bumper with Grille Guard for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
Great Bumper! Didn't experience any to terribly difficult, I did have help using a 1 Ton portable Shop Crane,it is bulky but face it all winch bumpers are pretty cumbersome to handle by yourself. There is a little trimming of the Frame Rails if you install Warn's Zeon winch, this procedure is covered in the installation instructions, you lose two bolt holes but you gain support back. Instead of the 8 bolt pattern the holds on the factory bumper you have 10,it's a solid installation. Also factory fog lights need a tab trimmed, but supplied light mounts are more then adequate to attach them, also in the instructions.Installation time, including Winch, lighting and all wiring completed around 5 hours.
Installed this bumper yesterday, it took about 3 hours. Some issues we came across. If you are going to use the halogen lights from the original bumper you will need to cut into the bumper to remove them. You cannot get the wiring out because the bumper was molded around the tow hooks. Just used a saw. Also the bolts to attached to jeep are hard to get in the small area. We used tied twine around the bolt and fished it through. Worked pretty good. Other than that it was pretty clear. Just took us about 3 hours.
I love Warn products. Instructions could have been better. Photos as well, especially regarding the fitment of the fog lights. I had to trim the gussets on the inside of the bumper to get a Warn Zenon 10 winch to fit properly. Come on, Warn! Nonetheless, it is a very good looking bumper.
This is a good product. The only thing wrong with it is that Warn decided to move the mounting for Warn winches forward enough so it hits the stock JL mounting tabs. You literally have to chop off part of metalwork on a Stock JL,JLU to make this winch fit. Other than that its a good product.
I chose this bumper because I wanted to stick with American companies but I have never purchesed any products from Warn. Mind you this is my fourth Jeep build and I’m a certified aviation mechanic so I typically have a good idea as to what a quality product is supposed to look like. I would give this bumper 3/5 stars for overall quality and here’s why. First of all you’re paying $1,000 for this bumper when you combine it with the skidplate (which you should if you have a Rubicon for the sway bar disconnect system) which is the world of Wranglers is a premium level bumper such as AEV and ARB. So tell me why there are only welds on the outside of the bumper and not on the inside with gaps it between where the the steel plates come together? C’mon Warn, that’s just laziness and heavily decreases the structural integrity of the bumper. When you’re mounting up a winch and using your bumper/winch combo to get yourself out of a sticky situation you shouldn’t be worrying about your bumper when you’ve purchased from a legendary American made company such as Warn. Laziness My other complaint is the hardware. Once again with the purchase of a $1,000 premium bumper with a legendary name the hardware should be coated or anodized in some fashion. The description of the bumper states the special coating on the bumper but I think they forgot about making the hardware corrosion resistant. I may sound a little over critical but once again you’re paying for a premium product from a legendary company So when you open that box you should be blown away with the build quality, not questioning it. I’m no professional automotive mechanic but I have been a rotary aircraft technical inspector on military aircraft for 11 years so I wouldn’t be putting down a product like this unless I knew exactly what I was talking about. I jumped the gun and purchased this because I wanted to get rid of my plastic bumpers as soon as possible but maybe I should have waited to ARB or AEV to release a product. I hope this helped and if anyone is considering purchasing this bumper and has any questions or wants any pictures please email me at [email protected]
