Reviews for Cold Case MOJ991A Aluminum Performance Radiator for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ
Just installed today, seems to be very well made and installed just as easy as a factory replacement. I wasn’t too thrilled with packaging as there was a piece of styrofoam across the top of the radiator and some of it broke off and was inside the radiator. Also the factory fan shroud screws don’t work as this requires standard machine bolts that I had to get but that’s no biggie
Really nice radiator and very well built. Installed in a 98 wrangler 4.0 auto. While it is considered direct fit it is an extremely tight fit due to it being thicker than stock. The biggest issue I had was that the clutch on the fan can make contact with the radiator. It pushed the fins down about an 1/8”. Didn’t cause a leak or damage but that’s too much contact. I ended up replacing the stock clutch fan with a flex fan and a 2” spacer. That solved the problem. Cools really well paired with the flex fan. Holding steady exactly at 195 degrees.
This is a nice looking radiator, and I feel sure once installed it will function well. However, it would not fit in my stock 2004 TJ, as the fan clutch was too wide to allow it to fit. We tried several methods, but it just would not fit. Ended up having to order a smaller fan clutch, which should make it work. It might be helpful if Quadratec had a short video showing how this is supposed to work, otherwise note that a new fan clutch will be needed.
First off, It's a great looking part. Welds look amazing but the fitment was a real issue. My 2004 LJ was completely stock. I was having some cooling issues and wanted to replace the factory radiator. I ordered the cold case and found that the factory fan clutch was blocking installation. Due to my cooling issue, I replace it with a smaller one from Quadratec. I was then able to install the cold case. I then found that the predrilled bolt holes were in the wrong place so I had to redrill them to attach my fan shroud. I knew the core was wider but I found that the mounting brack was as well. The coolant reservoir is now almost touching the power steering pulley and the fan shourd is closer to the motor. In addition the drain/ petcock wouldn't drain and they are shipping me a replacement. I think that it will work but it did not go as planned and if I had to do it again I would do something different.
