Reviews for Smittybilt 7721 Spare Tire Relocation Bracket for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL
Direct fit
Bolts are a little week, but all turned out good so far. Not had a lot of opportunities to test out the strength on the trails yet.
Instructions state 30 ftlb torc specs for m8 bolts. This is way too high. This typo/mistake cost me a broken bolt in my tailgate as well as stripping of the fixed nuts in this bracket. Extremely unprofessional to have typos (especially of technical criteria) in an instruction manual. Poor reflection of this brands quality control and business practices. Will not buy from smittybilt ever again in the future.
purchased in march 2019, it cracked, thing is junk.
I purchased the first bracket shortly after getting my new JL (one of the only options at the time). After a couple months the bracket started to crack and broke one of the welds. I called Smittybilt and they were very prompt to send a replacement (customer service was amazing), and the replacement was an upgraded/redesigned bracket due to having issues with the original design. After only a month the bracket is starting to crack at the weld where the original bracket had broke. I have shot off 3 emails to Smittybilt in regards to the replacement issues... awaiting a response/solution...
I installed this on my new JL 8 months ago to hold my new 35 in tire. It is now broke with a crack in its frame... did not do what it was made for.. Do not order..
I’ve historically been a Smittybilt fan, but I am very disappointed in this product. Install was relatively easy and the appearance is good. But, I have a 35” spare on here and it jiggles nearly nion-stop and it bounces A LOT over any bumps on the highway. My rubber bumpers are making constant contact with the spare tire, so it’s not a case of those not touching. Look on any of the forums, and you’ll find the same review of this product many times over. I know everyone was rushed to get products designed and out the door because of the stunt Mopar pulled in handcuffing everyone, but this one needs to be redesigned. In the meantime, I’m pulling it off and sending it back.
