Reviews for J.W. Speaker Model 8700 Evolution J2 Series 7" LED Headlight Pair for Jeep Wrangler JK
Amazing headlights from JWS!! What difference how it changes the appearance of my Jeep! I always receive compliments on all new lights. Highly recommend and easy installation.
I love these headlights. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. I have had these on my 2018 JK for several months now. Since installing them, I have had maybe 3 people flash high beams at me. They look great and function well. I plan to continue using J.W. Speaker in the future, for my tail lights, fog lights and turn signals.
My wife and I each ordered a set of the headlights, I had decided to return a previous purchase of the self named headlights for credit towards the new pair. We both had these new headlights installed by a dealer of jeeps familiar with this model of jeep and did a fabulous job of install and alignment. After having driven one of the jeeps to and from a trip to Colorado including many drives at night in pitch darkness, my wife and I both agreed that these headlights were 1. Worth the purchase price, and 2. Improved our night driving capabilities beyond anything possible before!! The factory halogen headlights were absolutely miserable to undertake any kind od night driving as the low light output and the deep yellow color spectrum made it nearly impossible to do so safely! The JW SPEAKER headlights are most decidedly worth every penny and most of all is tantamount for us in safety driving under night or low light conditions - period. Kudos to the salesperson at Quadratec as well as JW Speaker in this entire transformation in safe night time driving. Whole-heartedly recommended.
These headlights were easy to instal and look good.
Expensive but worth every penny plus the money that I wasted on the cheap Chinese knock offs that they replaced.
Plug and Play install great improvement over stock and worth every dime if it lasts two years or so
These are absolutely fantastic headlights. Dressed up my front end, they look great. Huge difference over stock headlights. Highly recommended..
I'm on my second JK, and the stock halogen headlights have always been a weak point on my 80-mile (round trip) daily commute -- especially during winter months. So, pretty much any LED aftermarket upgrade would be an improvement. The J. W. Speaker Model 8700 Evolution J2 is significantly more expensive than other LED headlight options, so I reckon the question is: are they worth it?
There are a couple of features that set these headlights apart from the crowd: (1) they are projection headlights -- rather than reflection, and (ii) when you switch from low-beam to high-beam, the low beams are not turned off. The manufacturer refers to this as "dual burn", and we old-timers remember when all headlights functioned this way. Of course, we also remember when the high/low beam switch was a floor-mounted switch that you operated with your left foot.
The "J" in J2 means that these are plug-and-play for the Jeep models listed on the fitment guide. There are other versions of this headlight that serve a broader market. My installation was over with pretty much before I even barked a knuckle.
As to performance, these headlights changed the course of night driving for me. The coherence of the beam must be seen to be believed. At first, I thought there was a hot spot in the beam pattern -- but the hot spot was the pattern. Driving in fog makes the pencil-thin pattern readily apparent. What this means is that the light output is thrown down the road and not diffused here, there, and everywhere. In fact, the design actually includes additional lenses to throw some light off to both shoulders.
If you've already upgraded your headlights, this option probably would be hard to justify. But, if you've been sitting the fence like I was, then these dual-burn projection headlights set the bar really high. Short commutes on well lit city streets will not benefit as much as long night drives on rural roads. If you regularly drive on twisty two-lane highways through the boonies, the combination of low-beam peripheral illumination plus distance vision when the road finally straightens out is a feature that highly recommends the J2.
Excellent visibility with these LED lights. Easy install though I did have to adjust the horizontal some on the passenger side. I had upgraded the stock bulbs on my two year old Wrangler Unlimited to Sylvania SilverStar Ultras last year. They got me about 20% better visibility but just were not enough on two lane country roads in rain and snow with oncoming vehicles. I kept hesitating due to cost of these, but after driving with them I'm extremely happy I spent the dollars. They compare to the HIDs I have in two other vehicles. I commute 20 miles on country roads with deer/elk hazards and am finally happy with the light output on my Jeep.
Nice light
