Reviews for QuadraTop Adventure Top S Soft Top for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
This is a cost effective soft top that also offers a more aggressive look with the fast back styling. That being said, this is a very cheap soft top.
The first issue I had with the top were the weak latches that secure the top to the windshield. Going about 55-60 on the highway would cause the top to blow open about half an inch letting a ton of wind inside the cab. Thankfully the latches don't completely unlatch or my soft-top would just be ripped off by the wind. It's not a huge issue but I do have to re-latch the topper every time I get off the highway. I emailed Quadratec about the issue but apparently I'm the first person to ever have this issue, they were no help.
If you take you soft-top on and off a lot this one won't survive long. The stitching holding the zippers onto the back windshield is slowly ripping apart. It seems like every time I take the soft-top off it reduces its life. I'm super careful because I've also had both thumb tabs for the zippers break off. I use zip ties now instead.
The tailgate bar is not a good design in general no matter what top you get. It is an item that receives a ton of wear. You should probably get a extra tailgate bar because this cheap one has an even shorter lifespan.
Overall I like the look of the top. I like the function of the top. It keeps the elements out. It's a good top for the price. It has it's quirks. You will be replacing parts in a years time.
Terrible. The instructions were shiny and colorful but that is where it stops. Stretched out in the sun, yes that didn't work, stretched out by having it on for 2 weeks in sunny conditions, still didn't work for stretching. Just tried to put it back on in prep for rain, can only use the velcro because it doesn't stretch enough to use the zippers. The springs on the side are so tight, it pulled that part of the top towards the center causing water leakage.
The only positive, it looks very good with just the Bimini top on.
I'll be putting my hard shell back on this weekend and placing this item in the trash.
This is not at all what was shown in the video or what I expected. I’m guessing there was a redesign and the front only flips up and doesn’t double fold like the video. This leaves the top flopping into the cabin and flaps during driving. Next the install. The directions are terrible and do not match the setup. First the top cross piece is screwed into the top fabric which makes things really confusing. Next there are not green bags or clear bags there are just a few bags label left and right. Unfortunately several of the bars were not labeled and it become a guessing game. And again the instructions were no help. Then there was the tension springs. This is a terrible idea. I still have no idea if they go on the inside or outside and that meshing with washers in the middle ripped the second I tried putting the spring through it. Oh and by the way get the torch out because you’ll have to heat the spring bend it then burn the living he.. out of yourself trying to put it into the “webbing” that melts instantly and you have to do it fast enough so you can close the spring. Next let’s talk about the new window design. Think you’re getting zippers… think again your getting a “P” and “C” channel on the side windows not that this is a terrible idea but if you don’t have the side windows super flexible and sitting in the sun for 12 hours the channel pulls right out when you try to snap in the lower portion. I do like the fast back look. Last but not least I have 20 years in the auto industry and someone doing this for the first time is going to get really frustrated. Still love you Quadratec but you might want to look into this top.
The top seems to be good quality.... However
There is about a 1 inch gap at the front where the top meets the top of the windshield creating a terrible noise with the wind.
The instructions are poor as they show what you need but not what they connect to or how it looks when finished.
Bag of 6 screws (2 types) for each side with no specifications on which type should be used.
The installation video shows absolutely nothing in regards to the actual assembly of the top.
Awesome look and works good. Unfortunately, the zippers are horrible! I have went through 3 different replacements and they haven’t gotten any better. Longest one lasted a few months. Probably going to see if someone can replace with more durable zippers if the next replacement window doesn’t work out. Shouldn’t have to do this though!
Love the top but the zipper broke on rear window. Needs to be a good 2 or 3in wider. Was told 2 week back order . Been going on 4 weeks hopefully the replacement will be wider.
Top is to tight even after sitting, takes hours to stretch it out and the zippers are made very cheap. I had fought with mine for hours only to have the zipper just burst right off. Its a nice looking top, but you are going to really have to work at it to get it on. I would recommend putting a whole summer day aside for this project. The stock one that comes with the jeep is much far less frustrating.
The zippers keep breaking, the top is too tight, needs a few inches more on rear window. even after being in the sun all day before installing. Quadratec replaced both the rear and side window with fast shipment While installing the top the passenger side window broke again. Love the open air feature. Just trying to figure out a way to keep the zippers from breaking.
Per the installation recommendation I let the top lay out in the sun for several hours before installation. Despite following the instructions step by step and having two helpers, the installation process was immensely frustrating and involved a trip to the store for a torque wrench that was not included in the kit. The installation started out simple, but getting the canvas on required a few hours of tugging and ultimately ended with a bunch of half-zipped zippers. After a few weeks of the top being installed I still had to have help closing the zippers as it took a LOT of grip strength to finish. At this point I was pretty happy with the top as the sun top feature is fun and easy to use and I imagined after a few months the top would stretch out a little bit. After about two months I took the back panels out for the first time and discovered that the passenger side zipper and both back zippers were already splitting and some pieces of the zipper came off as I unzipped them. At this point (about 4 months in) the back panel zippers are not even close to reaching and the panel is just being held by the velcro which barely overlaps the edges. I do not ever roll up the back panel because the bar that runs across the bottom is hard to get out while the side panels are still on, which also makes it difficult to put things in my trunk. I did not put this bar back on correctly one time which caused water to leak into my car and start to rust the car jack that came with the Jeep. Consequently, I do not take the inserts out nearly as much as I would like to because putting them back in frustrates me nearly to tears every time and everyone in my family refuses to help me with them anymore. The only thing that I enjoy about this top is the sun top feature which I use just about every day.
I wanted to love this top. It looks great and offers the type of instant flexibility that is perfect for the summer. Installation is pretty straightforward if you follow the instructions. The ability to go from covered to the top-open configuration takes about two seconds. I would suggest using Velcro straps to cinch the support bars to the roll bar. It kept trying to popup while driving down the road. That's about all the good news I can share - now the bad news. It fits tight. Too tight. Can't zip the back window in properly which caused the zipper to split the first time I took it off and put it back on. Same thing on the side windows. Also, if you roll up the back window when it is hot, the straps that hold it up will cause the window to warp and leave a distortion line for your viewing pleasure. Finally, I wasn't prepared for the increased wind noise. Going from a hard top to this was a significant difference. I expected some differences but didn't expect it would be as pronounced. It is the difference between a "normal" conversation volume to a level that is "loud." Anyway - because it broke and wasn't a pleasure for me...I sent it back. This rating is for the product. If I could rate the customer service of Quadratec, they would get five stars across the board. Fast, courteous, friendly...I could go on. I felt like they truly cared about my experience and valued me as a customer.
