Reviews for B&M Racing 45195 Precision Sport 6-Speed Shifter for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Seems to be a very well built product. I install the B&M shifter on my 2008 Sahara, Monday. I decide to take the jeep to work today (Wednesday) so far I notice more stability on the trans, the swift point tighter than stock swifter, which will take some getting use too. but I’m ok with it.
I have 2008 JK. It is not only fixed my gear pop - out issue but also It brings a different level of Jeep shifting mechanism. I feel more power and hear less noise. I do not dare DIY so, brought it to a mechanic to install. Do not forget ordering a shift stick.
WOW, what a difference. Why doesn't Jeep use this to start with? A must have!
Easy to install, except for handling of the donut. If yours is old and crusty like mine was, you may want to order an extra in advance of the install, since they are easy to destroy during installation. Make sure you drop your transmission far enough, or the donut will be even harder to work with than it needs to be.
The shifter itself is fantastic. A huge improvement over the stock shifter, to be sure.
Easy install. Huge improvement over the stock shift tower. The detents are very stout with much more positive gear engagements. I did however encounter a clearance issue as this is quite a bit more robust than the stock shift tower. When the transmission was user a load the torque would cause the front right corner of the shift tower to rattle against the tub. After relieving the area the problem no longer exist. I installed this in conjunction with the Center Force dual friction clutch kit and it feels like completely different Jeep. IMO, these two items are the fix for what I feel is the weak link in the JK driveline.

Easy install took 1 hour and 15 minutes........very simple........Very positive gear selection..........Great product.......10 years too late
This instantly fixed my popping out of 1st gear problem. It is a lot of steps to get this replaced, but it really isn't that difficult. Allocate yourself about 4-6 hours from start to finish. Have a couple of good jacks on hand, or some short jack stands to support the fuel tank and cross member. An impact wrench will make this job much easier. I highly suggest going ahead and buying the new foam ring.
I withheld a star due to the poor shipping time from Holly and the lack of communication from Quadratec on the delays in shipping. It took almost an entire month to get it. I'm not sure where the breakdown happened between Quadratec and Holley - but they were like a married couple who were in a days-long fight and not speaking to each other. I finally just called Holley myself and got it shipped that day. The fellow at Holley didn't know what happened either - said they'd been in stock the whole time - so it wasn't a backorder deal.
The entire system is great, it gives you that clean shifting control, and none of the sloppiness you get from the factory. The rubber between this unit and the transmission is so clean compared to the goo the older ones required you to use. It's already a pain to lower the transmission, the bolt on feature is nice. The one problem is fitting a square unit into the frames circular opening. The Jeep was designed for a cylindrical shifter and this gets so close to the edge I though I broke the transmission. The engine made a horrible metallic sounds after installation. It turns out I had to hammer the frame a bit around one of the corners so that it would stop grinding against the metal. I don't know the functional reasons for the square shape, but it really would have been smoother with a cylinder.
Easy iinstall and works great.
After initially seeming stiff, has smoothed out and has actually made shifting almost fun. Also has completely cured the tendency of the stock shifter to pop out of gear— the main reason I bought this. If you get the companion shift lever , make sure to loctite it even though instructions don’t mention it. Main drawback is the exorbitant price.
