Don't have it yet
I bought this top because I had the Bestop cable style top (its main competitor) that was nothing but fitment issues and readjusting every drive until the straps broke. As someone who wants a safari top that actually works with the door surrounds to keep rain out, I was irritated no one else had yet made a competing product until Mastertop came along. Compared to my other summer tops (Bestop included) the quality seems far higher. The fitment of the Mastertop was ace, it actually FIT around the rollbars unlike the Bestop mess, and even better, Mastertop recognized one of the big issues was the rear canopy was too far back (on the Bestop model) and had no reinforcing for the stresses in that area, so the rear canopy is on the MT top is cut further forward with a different design and even on the very first drive, I got 0 buffering which left me beyond impressed. The strap design on the sides works far better than the cable design on the Bestop and over all, reduces the amount of straps rumning under the soundcard. Overall, this is much better design. I emailed Bestop ages ago about their design issues and was ignored, so now I'm a faithful Mastertop customer.
awesome bimini top - goes on easy and comes off even easier. a note - you need the door surrounds to install. without them the top is loose and less weather resistant.
I bought this top as part of the summer combo pack for MasterTop. It came with the top, a headliner channel, a wind jammer, and tonneau cover. After installing the top, I took a quick spin down the highway and wow was it loud. It was popping and making all sorts of noise. Speeds around 70 to 75 mph. But here's the kicker and why I'm giving it 5 stars....It's a summer top. It's not suppose to be driven at highway speeds with zero noise. It's not that sort of top. Revert back to the hard/soft top if you want no noise.
So I got back home. I followed the instructions which says "drive around, let the fabric stretch, and retighten". I let it sit over night and drove to work and cranked it back up to 70 mph. Minimum, and I mean minimum noise! I've driven all over town today, adjusted the straps slightly as the materials expand in the hot New Mexico sun and I've had no issues at all with noise. Check out the pics. This is what the summer combo looks like installed.
Price and fitment
Installed last week on my 2010 JK, so far so good. It's survived 2 heavy thunderstorms with no leaks. Only compliant is that it bows in the middle over the driver/passenger seats. Water can pool there.
Fits good at first but requires quite a bit of adjustment for the first few weeks. After that the fit is good. The paint on the hooks for the straps is falling off in large chunks.
