Reviews for Tuffy 326-01 Security Products Deluxe Security Deck Enclosure for 11-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
For the price I am not impressed. It seems way overpriced for 4 pieces of what appears to be stamped metal. This product should be around the $200 price point.
Pros: 1.Seems sturdyish...
2. Looks good once installed.
3. Decent customer service.
4. It does not rattle.
Cons: 1. it says it has a powdercoat finish but it scratches off very easily. I have other powdercoated accessories that you have to carve a groove into to remove the coating.
2. It seems rather flimsy for the amount it costs.
3. The instructions were not correct. I was sent instructions for an earlier model
4. I did not receive all the parts. ( a quick call to quadratec was all it took to fix this; impressed with their service)
5.There were fitment issues. It took using a rubber mallet to beat it into place to get everything aligned. The bushings did not fit properly.
6. No way included to hold the lid open. For the price there should be an arm or shock to lift the lid.
7. The anchors should also be standard for the price.
TLDR It is a decent product but for the price should be much, much better.
This will be returned, the paint is scratched, and very thin, the lid will not fit the hardware is junk, the adhesive on the “weather stripping” is coming off, the fit and finish is not on par with the price.
Sadly, I had to return this, and there’s nothing else quite like it on the market. I had the problems other reviewers had, and more - it was damaged in shipping and had a large dent on the lid, the protective stripping adhesive was stuck to the cardboard and wouldn’t adhere to the metal, it was very hard to put together because the bolts weren’t the right size and the fit was misaligned, it scratched easily, and it rattled once it was in place. It did feel very secure and looked like it belonged, so I could have dealt with all of that if it had just been a little bit shallower - but the top won’t slide between the box and the rear seats. That was the dealbreaker for me - if you need to haul something that won’t fit in the box, you had better plan ahead, because if you need to take the lid off while you’re out and about, it has to go on your backseat passengers’ laps or on the side of the road. This was a great idea, but it needs some more work. The best part of this purchase was Quadratec customer service, which is amazing.
Plus one star for ease of installation, clear instructions, and simple design.
Plus one star for prompt response to concerns after the installation.
Minus one star for the ability to compromise the advertised security without using any hand or power tools. It should be noted that Tuffy's customer service and tech support felt this was an isolated and unique issue.
Minus one star for prompt, but unfortunately ineffective customer support.
Minus one star for having to come up with my own fix (albeit not an expensive fix) to bring the product up to the advertised quality.
Easy installation??? you must be joking. This thing is a massive headache to install. Oh the sides and back piece go in easy enough. Its when you try to get the lid in and the grooves are slightly wider then the slots they are supposed to go into that the true fun begins. If you enjoy spending hours of frustration and basically having to break the thing to get it in place then have fun. Hope you have a rubber mallet and two extra people to help. Of course now that i finally have it in place i cant ever imaging removing it which negates the purpose of getting the more expensive removable version. For an almost 400 dollar item i expected a lot more. VERY UNHAPPY AND FRUSTRATED!!!
