Reviews for Tuffy 326-01 Security Products Deluxe Security Deck Enclosure for 11-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
This is a great accessory, modestly well implemented. The materials and build are good. Although there is obviously an attempt to pack the parts carefully, my unit had a lot of paint scuffing and one piece of weather stripping on the top had been mashed and distorted. Needs better packing.
Installation started well, but got harder with the forward panel and harder again putting the top on. On my two door, it would have been impossible to install these without use of a rubber mallet. I certainly won't be popping it out to install the rear seat very often!
Installation was fairly simple however, instructions could use some better diagrams. Only issue was assembly items 11.7 (Bolt) and 11.8 (nut) needed to attach item 16 to item 5. Nut was wrong size for bolt. Also, slot in parts 7 & 9 did not accept the carriage bolt. I'm sure I will be happy with the added security when going topless and doorless.
The nuts don't match the screws. Had to go spend a couple of bucks at Home Depot. Other than that and the iffy instructions, great product.
The product is great. The fitment is ok but definitely not the best. The holes for the carriage bolts are not correct size, but they will work.
The main issue is the passanger side piece is two pieces bolted together. The issue is the bolts and nuts they give you are not the correct size. I received a 8-32 bolt and a 10-32 nut...... yeah that's doesn't work. So a quick trip to the hardware store and problem solved but turned a 30 minute install into 45-60 due to travel.
Other than that it looks great, lid is a litttle tight but assume it will loosen up over time, and built solid.
I would buy again
It is a very tight fit, but I like it. I am not a handyman by any means and I got it in no problem in about 1 hour.
Love the product, yes what people say are kind of true about the top lid being very firm to put in the first time but after that smooth. No rattle at all. Looks like it comes with the jeep. Love that i can take the cover off at any time. Probably why there isnt a gas shock to hold it up.
My one true complaint is the top scratches why to easy for a powder coat or any other type of finish. My brother and I both have this product and both have that same complaint.
It was easy to install over all and i had two children in the jeep with i was doing it. Less then an hour easy.
Just installed it, wasn't too bad, make sure you take out the rear 'floor' mat before you put it in tho, it prevents the front panel from going down far enough for the bottom bolts to go in. Don't think it was mentioned in the instructions.
Pros:
Easy installation, does not rattle, sturdy, easy access to cargo within it due to lifting lid, easy removal if you need to carry larger cargo that does not fit inside of it, secure because its boxed off behind passanger seats and when tailgate is shut. Lid is durable and supports plenty of weight. If you have the outlet in the back of the jeep it is still accessable.
Cons:
Blocks tie downs, standard size cargo mats do not fit.
Out of the box no way to add cargo to top of lid if needed.
Overall:
Great product would rec to any one looking for a little more security for their jeep.
This locking compartment is very nice. Relatively easy to install, It doesn't rattle when driving. It would be nicer if it had some provision to hold the lid in the up position (gas cylinders, a prop rod or something). I had to make my own using a large wood dowel rod. It seems like it will be very secure. Be advised, rear cargo rugs and mats will not will not fit under the edges of the enclosure so you must roll them up or trim to fit. Also, access to the front cargo tie-downs is blocked by the front wall of the enclosure.
