Reviews for Quadratec Fog Lamp Anti Flicker Pulse Width Modulator for 10-20 Jeep Wrangler JL & JK
Worked well, don't notice any flickering.
A little pricey for what they are, but they do the trick.
For what I needed I had to cut and splice. But for LED foglights on a Non LED equipped Wrangler this was the cheapest and best option.
Not 100% sure if these were needed the LED fogs from Quadratec did not seem to flicker at all but I still installed these in line anyhow. Just hard to tell if they are "really" needed.
I purchased this PWM for my 2016 JKU 1941 Edition (Sahara). I had replaced my factory fog lights with the 2017 LED fog lights but was mistaken in believing they also housed the circuitry to eliminate the flickering/strobing that the JW speaker style fog lights from MOPAR contain. The Quadratec sales person was helpful to a point but unfortunately this PWM does is not plug and play with 2016 and 2017 JK/JKUs. On one side the PWM has the correct H13 connector but on the other side has a deutsch connector which does not work with OEM equipment and MOPAR endorsed/advertised aftermarket equipment like the JW Speaker fog light I previously mentioned. Luckily I was able easily remove the deutsch connector and purchase and attach a female (not male like the other end of the Quadratec PWM) H13 connector using an electrical "crush" connector I got at Autozone and some shrink wrap/electrical tape. The unit works great after the mod and have had zero issues as described by the gentleman above with the lingering periodic strobe effect. There is not a plug and play fog light PWM with the proper connector for my application so if you are in the same boat as myself don't be intimidated by the modification you'll have to do but realize this PWM is not really plug and play as described.
Did not stop the flicker. Instead of a dull fast flicker there is one big flash every 30 Seconds
Contrary to what the Quadratec rep stated over the phone, these will plug right into a 2013 model. The rep stated that the only difference between the 13 & 14 model year was the factory fog plugs. HOWEVER they do indeed have the same fog light plug throughout all JK model years. So the anti flicker harness plugged right into the OE wiring and the Ridgidindustries dually fog lamps.
The issue is that they don't exactly stop the flicker. They do delay the intervals of flicker but they are much brighter flicker pulses.
So I used my basic knowledge of electronics & assumed the following: these are trying to mitigate flicker by utalizing a capacitor to store the PWM pulsed signals from the jeep lighting circuitry. The issue is that there isn't anywhere for that stored energy to go. One the LED fog lamp flashes on like a camera flash, depleting the stored energy in the capacitors. I thought these were "anti flicker harnesses?" The solution is to install a resistor of adequate value (about 680-1k ohm) between the positive & negative leads. This way the small amount of power stored in the capacitors has a place to go. The resistor should only consume .2-.28 watts at 14 volts. Enough to stop the flickering & make these work!
One star for the extra hassles of a not so plug-&-play system.
