Reviews for Mean Green MG3210 Starter for 88-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ & Unlimited with 4.0L I-6 Gasoline Engine
I had one on my jeep for 12 years. Never failed to quickly start my 4.0 Jeep. However. In the final year I hit a big puddle of water and I guess water got into the starter. Whenever it was cold the solenoid would fail to engage the starter until I warmed up the starter. But in warm weather it was a champ! Best starter I have EVER dealt with
I bought one of these starters and was initially impressed. It went right in, with the exception of the solenoid wire connection being of a different type, and relocating it so I had to make a longer wire. Once installed it, started right up with ample torque to turn over the motor. Unfortunately, it came with a two-year warrantee and failed shortly thereafter. I will replace with a different brand.
I ordered the manual transmission starter on accident. I still have it and am keeping it for the future build. I did put one on my diesel pickup though. And it spins the motor twice as fast as stock. So probably same thing here.
Expensive mistake. What a disappointment. I thought this starter would be an upgrade. It only lasted 13 months before it started making a clicking noise, then smoked, and completely failed. From now on I'll stick with Mopar.
Junk. Start off good. Only lasted a year an a half. Mean green only warranties their product for a year. A cheap start from the auto parts store would last longer and work just as well. There is nothing special about this other then the large price tag and the nice art work.
