Had another brand with a bumper mounted spare. Could not take the rattle any longer! Ordered the Rugged Ridge HD mount and OMG! why did I not do this in the first place?!! A very solid piece of equipment and not a peep out of it. I could not be happier. Very easy install. Took around 2 hours to complete.

Initial Review:

Installed easily. Looks great. Solid item. Bolts will supposedly rust very quickly so I intend to pull the heavy spare and paint this very next weekend. Not 100% convinced this is better than a bumper mount but I am convinced the OEM will not safely carry a 35" tire.

Very sturdy and heavy. It probably wouldn't hurt to have someone help you hold it up while installing it. Takes quite a bit of effort to open and close the tailgate with this tire carrier installed, even without the spare tire mounted. The tailgate will not open up to a full 90 any more but pretty close. The male part of the hinge that mounts to the female part of the hinge that is attached to the body appear to be rubbing inside. I think the rubbing is what is causing the door to not open full 90 degrees. Opening and closing the tailgate has caused some of the powder coat to chip off of the top and the bottom hinges in the same place. It is a very small amount (see pic). Overall This is a pretty beefy tire carrier and should do its job well.

Bad hardware. Everything rusted and had to replace with stainless.
