Reviews for DV8 Offroad RocKlaw Hood Catch System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Latches installed. It is really easy once you figure out the right combination of extensions and universal joints. The passenger side is easiest to do from underneath with a deep well 13mm 1/4 inch drive socket, then a universal and then (2) 6 inch extensions. The driver's side is going through by the horn with the deep well, a 3 inch extension, then universal, then a 6 inch extension. Finally, to install the new one, you can set up the new washer and nut with duck tape, tape it to the inner wall and then thread your bolt from the outside. Definitely some alien fingers involved, but easy. I used the original nut/washer assembly and that way you can tighten by just the Allen wrench on the outside. All told it was about 20 minutes of install time and another 40 minutes was figuring out what combination of stuff would work to install it. The initial test drive was great! We drove down the interstate with whe wind off of semi trucks and it was rock steady with no flutter.
Got to say after I read the reviews after I had placed my order I wasn't sure the latches were what I thought they were. They do not come with instructions but thanks to YouTube was able to install them with minimal issues. Reading the reviews told me to use the isolator from my original equipment which made a difference in the adjustment of the gap. I put them on my Jeep and I am about to put them on my wife's. Look great and the hood no longer moves in high wind/high speed scenarios. If you are thinking whether or not you want the inserts order them with the latches, they are $2 more are not pre-installed. If you order them later the price is $17.99.
Easy to install, look great and locked my hood down tight. No more flutter!
Very well made, love the tension adjustment feature. Put mine on in about 20 minutes total. The people complaining about no instructions? Why do you need instructions? Make sure you swap out your original rubber bumpers onto these. Highly recommend, no more hood flutter!
I love the look of these hood hold downs. The installation is strait forward and only difficult on the passenger side. You have to use the isolaters between the hood and fenders from the oem parts. These things are built to last. I have alot of drake parts on my 2012 jk and have been very happy with them. Now just need more money for my money pit.. Great job Drake Offroad.
Bought these after the stock one on the right side failed at 70 mph returning from a fishing trip in Colorado. They have been nothing but perfect for me. I live on a dirt road 3 miles from the closest paved road so they get a workout year round. I have read that a lot of people have unlatching problems with them I haven't seen any of that. I did retain the plastic pad under the base latch that was on the stock one. There is no mention of using it in the instructions but I think you need this for a little give in the latch. Anyway they work great for me. I also have to agree about Quadratec's customer service its the best I've ever encountered by far.
Easy to install, looks great.
Heavy duty hood latches!!! The package came in weighing almost 5 lbs... Which is pretty heavy compared to factory hood latches! Almost gave it 4 stars because no assembly instructions were included.
But one very important note on instalation of this product: BE SURE TO USE THE "HOOD ISOLATORS" FROM THE OLD HOOD LATCHES, AND INSTAL IT ON THESE NEW HOOD LATCHES!!! Missing this step will cause constant compression and rubbing between your hood and your jeeps body. Its an easy step to miss since theres no instructions to follow in the first place. But still a great purchase!!! For looks and functionality its a solid 5 stars!
Very nice build quality. the bolts come in silver, but i painted them black to complete the blacked out look. not too hard for an install.
Very durable heavy nice product I'd recommend
