cheap first time trying to remove the lock nut the plastic housing cracked and the nut spun freely. Had to use channel locks to rip remaining pieces off to get to the stem to twist it off put original simple nut on....no security.

Even while in a locked position, it kept coming off due to vibrations. I was on the highway, was able to pull over, unlock, re thread, lock again. Tested to make sure it was locked, and then continued on my way. Awhile later, the lock went airborne. It lasted about 6 months. I now Just use the regular hood mount knobs. I live by the beach, there are jeeps everywhere and no one ever bothers with it, unless they have borrowed and put it back without saying anything. That is a high possibility around here, but unless you are truly worried about theft, this gives the appearance that it is safe. Just don't drive with it!

I used it twice and the lock stripped out and I had to bust it open. Then I had to unscrew it with pliers to get my lift off. Luckily I wasn't stranded someplace. It's a piece of junk. Don't buy it.
