Reviews for Quadratec Quick Release Mirrors with Round Head for 97-18 Jeep Wrangler TJ, Unlimited, Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK
They look great but they have a serious oversight. The passenger mirror should be convex for a wider view like a factory mirror. It is flat. If it were convex, I would have given it 5 stars.
First off the mirrors work however if you’re used to the stock mirror it is significantly less area to view the road. Also I noticed significant vibration at highway speed‘s. They work in a jam but not for me.
Nice mirrors but you really need to crank them tight to stay in place if you're planning on going on the highway.
Even though the primary bolt is designed to be tightened by hand, finger tight is not tight enough. But it is easy to put a wrench on it. The kit is beefy. Vibration is low enough to be perfectly acceptable for us. At $50, this is a real deal.
They are not bad but certainly could be better. Kind of difficult to get them to tighten and stay in a specific position. Had to actually install other spacers and washers to make it work.
Easy to install, great size. only complaint is a slight whistle from where the mirror connects to the arm while driving 35+ mph.
Nice fit and they stay put. I gave a 3 because the nuts thats welded to the brackets had chewed up threads so I had to go buy an 8 x 1.25 tap to clean them up. Otherwise a good deal.
These mirrors are adequate. The mounting brackets went on easy. The mirror arms didn't fit into the bracket very snugly, so I used a crescent wrench to bend the top of the bracket down very slightly to hold the mirror arm better. When you put these on, you really have to tighten the knob about as tight as it will go to keep the arms from rotating. From one mounting to the next, there's nothing to give you a visual cue on whether you have the arms at the same angle from the A-pillar as you had them at last mounting, so when I got them adjusted the way I wanted, I used a file to scratch a couple alignment marks into the bracket and arm. When you unscrew the mounting knob, you have to be careful not to lose the washer. It's very loose and I've had to hunt it down a few times now.
The mirrors themselves don't offer a large viewing area. Also (at least on the JK), the mirrors are higher and further out from the A-pillar than the door mirrors (due to the JK using the bolt holes above the windshield hinge and the length of the arms). This isn't a problem, but it does take some getting used to. They might work better on a TJ since the instructions have them mounted below the hinge.
I've mounted/dismounted these mirrors 3 or 4 times over the past month without any issues. With the mirrors dismounted, there's no issue with the mounting brackets. In fact, they're hardly noticeable. My Jeep is my daily driver and my commute is everything from stop-and-go to highway speed. I drove 75mph on the interstate a few days ago and the mirrors held their place with no problems.
These are completely functional, but nothing special. They do their job and the price is good.
The brackets extend too low and interfere with door removal on my LJ, so I would imagine it would be the same for a TJ. Also, the set angle in the arms are designed for use in the offset position on the newer Wranglers, couldn't even adjust the drivers side mirror to be useful. These are going right back.
Nice concept, the quality is good and I love the look... just not recommended for freeway use. No matter how hard I tighten down the arms, they move once I reach 70-75mph. No side mirrors while in Bay Area traffic... not good.
Also, they are small so the view coverage while looking at the passenger side mirror is almost useless.
I plan on keeping them only to put them on when the doors are off for recreation use. Otherwise, the stock mirrors are going back on.
