Reviews for Quadratec Premium 2" Hitch with Wiring Kit & Jeep Logo Plug for 13-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 10th Anniversary Rubicon, Rubicon X, Rubicon Recon & Hard Rock Editions
Couldn't be easier. Uses existing bolts, lines up perfectly. Wiring instructions were very specific, right down to which holes in the Jeep to Insert the wiring harness tie downs. Plug and play at the taillight connection. Looks like it came from the factory. Get the kit, I highly recommend it.
bolted right up after removing the factory bolts. If you find that you need bolts to install, you bought the wrong one. this item is for jeeps models (Rubicon, Golden Eagle, etc) that have bolts already in back of bumper.
Took about 45 minutes to do it right, need a torque wrench to tighten to 80 FT Lbs.
Install installation with my factory hardware. Nice!
Very nice and easy to put on my 2017 Wrangler Unlimited 75th edition with the metal bumper.
Easy on OEM look. Couldn’t be better!
Things to consider. Your factory bumper can have issues that can cause you headaches, the instructions could be better, try to reuse the bolts in the same place you removed them.
For this hitch, you might need to use open ended wrench once the bolts get close to the muffler, my craftsman 1/2 socket wrench was damaged on plastic direction switch due to the muffler interference on the first bolt, not knowing how much more I had to back it out, I also cross threaded this bolt, which required the purchase of a new bolt, about 7 bucks as no local dealers had the bolt.
The star washers on the bumper need to be cleared, if you don't see them(4) on the ground after the bolt removals, make sure you clear them before installing the hitch.
Installing the hitch is not super hard but its not a cake walk, you have to move the bumper around alil to get things to line up, install all 4 bolts but don't smoke them on, if you do the last bolt might be very hard to install, I found that even on the last bolt I was pushing on the bumper to get that last bolt to line up and start.
After all 4 bolts are in, go down the line and torque to 80 foot pounds, then go back and recheck them, this seemed like alot, to the point of almost deforming the steel bumper bar where it meets the bolt heads, but better safe than sorry,
The tabs for the wiring keeps are ok but not great, I used them but also ziptied the wiring all the way for a cleaner and more secure installation.
I give the hitch a 4 star for its alignment, quality(China), usually only buy Curt hitches but in this situation I think this is a good solution, its slightly lighter than the Curt hitch which is a negative, but the positive is the bracket tab for the wiring and apparently some Curt hitches for this application have alignment issues occasionally.
There should be no need to drop the muffler provided you can move it slightly out of the way and or use open end wrench once you get close to it, my install was semi painful but I have read of much worse and longer installs from other hitch brands on the Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU.
Quality is there, however I was surprised that not bolts and nuts were provided. Now I have to go to a hardware store to buy the hardware. A jeep dealer wanted $15 for each bolt, what a rip-off.
The receiver fits perfectly. It did not, however, include the hardware so minus 1 star as the hardware is very expensive.
Love the hitch and wiring kit. Top notch. The only reason for the 3 star review is that it doesn't come with the mount bolts or nuts. Kinda crazy. Luckily I was replacing another hitch that had them. If not I would of been fubared for a while....
