Reviews for Rugged Ridge Mesh Grille Insert for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK

Sturdy construction with a nice thick coat of paint. Should look good installed. Problem is, it does not fit an 08 wrangler. Save your money and buy some mesh and a can of paint from a hardware store.

This product was a little difficult to install but not too much of an issue. The issue I really had was that the product has completely rusted. The rust water drips onto the front of my Jeep leaving brown streaks everywhere. Do yourself a favor and find something more durable unless you want to be replacing this each year or two.

This item will not fit the 2017 Wrangler. The mesh insert is held in place by two metal bars and the tops of the bars have to fit between two flush mounting surfaces - the grill and forward vehicle flanges. There is no way to fit what amounts to a 3/16th thickness of screw head and bar top between those two flush mounted surfaces. I gave the items one-star only because I had to rate it as something - otherwise would have given it zero stars.

Looks great in the photos...but not in reality. I have a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4-door, and no matter what we did or how we tried, this grille would not lay flat against the front grille. And the bars that are supposed to hold it in place are not long enough and are curved too much to fit properly, no matter how you try to match it to the front grille. If we had screwed it in place, the bars would have pulled the front grille into the radiator, and never have been reinstalled onto the Jeep. I had hoped this insert would have protected the exposed radiator fins. And forget the instructions; they are unclear. Very disappointing.

The mounting system is not compatible with JK jeeps. Basically the top connection will not allow reinstallation of the grill as it interferes with bar on in front of the radiator. Amazing to me that after 10 years of JK production no one has discovered this significant flaw...
