Reviews for Old Man Emu OMESD48 Steering Stabilizer with Relocation Bracket for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with LHD
Very accurate fit, easy to install and a very high quality product.
Worked perfectly. Did have to drill out/enlargen two holes. Not sure why they can just provide hardware that fits.
Easy swap out, seems stronger than stock
The OME steering stabilizer works exceptionally with my 2016 JKU with a Teraflex 2.5" coil lift kit. The stabilizer handles 34" tires mounted on steel wheels as if they were stock. The product is well packaged and installation is simple to follow. The OME steering stabilizer relocates above the tie rod providing additional clearance while off-roading.
Fairly easy to install, I did have to drill the existing hole in the stock bracket to widen it as it was just a bit small. That was scary as the jeep was just a month old and I did not want to screw up. It did not take much effort to widen the hole, and everything else was pretty straight forward, I followed the instructions to relocate the stabilizer above tie rod, and it fits perfectly.
The OME steering stabilizer does provide a slightly better feel than stock stabilizer. It has been six months since I installed this and steering feedback still feels great.
Works as expected, perfect replacement for broken stabilizer. Did not install relocation bracket because it didn't arrive in time. Will need to wait for that. Disappointed they did not arrive as kit, or at least together. Also, pictures in direction are useless! Black on black on black!
This is my third OME stabilizer, two on TJ's and this one on a JK. It greatly improves the on and off-road handling. Only giving 4 stars because the part I received isn't what is pictures on this website. Mine didn't come with the rubber boot, but the metal shield. Not a big deal, I just get bothered when an item I order isn't represented 100% accurately.
Love the shock. If you plan to change out the tie rod mount you might have to hollow out the metal sleeve. The 2 synergy mounts I bought have bigger bolts than stock.
I was pretty excited to be going with an OME component and wasn't bothered by the slightly higher price. Everything was packaged nicely and looked great however problems started the moment I started the install. The instructions are very bleak, the photos are horrible. If this was just a stab swap one wouldn't even really need instructions but this particular kit included the relo bracket. I ended up searching around and found a PDF version with colored photos which helped but I hit a brick wall when I realized that the hardware included with the kit did not fit...
Specifically the provided bolt that is used to mount the bracket is too big. Of course it was Sunday and my local hardware store wasn't open and I wasn't about to start drilling out the stock mount point on my 2016 JKU Rubicon. I could see if this was an ebay knockoff for $20 but not AT ALL what I expected from OME.
I ended up ditching the bracket and just swapped out just the shock. I had already tore everything down by the time I realized the bracket hardware wasn't going to work so rather that deal with a return I decided to just swap them out, to me it's not worth the time nor frustration.
I will say this though, I'm in the market for a 3" to 4" lift and I was 100% set on OME but if they can't get 1 of 1 bracket right on quite possibly the most basic of suspension related upgrades I'm never touching their gear again. I did some more research later and realized that this problem is covered on amazon's reviews but nobody has reviewed it here yet so I never caught it.
Buyer beware.
