Reviews for Rampage Products 76336 Locking Hood Catch Set in Black for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Engine area all secure now...theives not welcome...install is a bit challenging if jeep is lifted like mine...make sure bottom piece is up all the way & top piece is down all the way before tightening...great product
fantastic product , love it .
Great product to protect under hood access. Easy install and an inexpensive way to get a sense of security.
Just surpassed my 10 year anniversary with these locks (from May 2011)
As noted in other reviews, they will require some initial adjustment to get them "just right" on an OEM hood--and yes, it helps to remove the grille. Be patient: you don't want them on too tight, or too loose. Just like any other lock exposed to the elements, it will require the occasional dusting of graphite powder to keep the lock smooth.
Only con: after ten years, the powder coat on the latches themselves have completely worn off. They are now silver, LOL.
But they work. Someone interested in stealing a car battery will just have to find another Jeep.
Nice product. Glad I read the reviews above removing the grill. Latches extremely right. Took my dremel tool and ground out the hood piece. It was so tight I had extreme problems opening it. Quick fix with the dremel but that Is the reason for not being 5 star.
installation was fine, clamped the hood down a little too tight for my liking but I changed the hardware for a smaller diameter bolt and it seemed ok. Now no one can help themselves to my hood or anything and I don't have to worry about the hood popping up down the highway.
Install time wasn’t bad, about 20 minutes. Definitely holds the hood much more secure than factory latches.
Nice trim look and stops the highway hood flutter. Installation is not to bad, just a little tricky. Locks on mine stuck a little but loosened up with a little lub
Very easy to install. The one gripe I have is that there is no locator pin or anything like that to line it up. You have to be careful and hold the latch in place while you tighten the nut on the main latch. Otherwise it will spin and be off. Once installed and adjusted, it locks the hood down pretty tight and solid and the locking mechanism works great. Be sure to make sure the latches are open before closing the hood or you could damage the hood. These are solid hunks of metal.
Locking tumbler fell out of one of the locks
