Reviews for Bestop 5472235 Supertop NX Soft Top with Tinted Windows without Doors for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door
Great softtop+frame kit and perfect fit for my 2011 Wrangler Sport JK. Comes with decent instruction sheets requiring about 2.5 hours for installation. Seals nicely with no leaks in strong thunderstorms and very little road noise at 80mi/hr. Highly recommend this Besttop product. However I give 4/5 stars (not perfect 5 stars) due to frustrating customer service. Short story is that I had initially ordered the softtop+frame kit from MasterTop, and it took nearly 6 weeks of chasing down answers for why it doesn't fit properly. DO NOT purchase the MasterTop brand soft top + frame kit!. There's a manufacturing defect that the frame is oversized and the softop is at least 2 in short on each window and the rear side supports. Quadratec tech expert recommended letting it sit in the sun for several hours or use a hairdryer to stretch the top. - REALLY! I explained multiple times the top may stretch maybe half an inch, but no way 4 inches or more! As I mentioned it took me so many emails with pics, using chatbox, and many phone calls to chase this down, finally having to talk to the MasterTop manufacturer rep directly. MasterTop and Quadratec finally agreed to replace the defective product and with the BestTop product. All was good once the BestTop product arrived. Sure, there was no charge for the replacement, but I probably spent 30 hours of my time chasing this down. I would have expected Quadratec tech expert/customer service rep to pursue the issue that I described in detail with pics and the expert or customer service dept to find a solution. In the end, my own persistence finally paid off and I'm delighted with the BestTop product.
I really like this top and would have given it 5 stars except for two minor problems Like someone else the side windows and how they tuck around the doors is a problem. The top section near the upper corner keeps coming untucked due to it being so tight. Hopefully over time it will loosen up enough to stay in position. The other issue swas with the back window. The first time I unzipped it enought to fold it up over back top of Jeep, when I put it back and zipped in back in place, as i was driving i notices marked on the window that appear to be permanent. It was a little cold when I pushed it over top and wonder if that caused it. Have to see ho wto get a replacement back window. Otherwise, I doubt i will ever put the hard top back on. And its not that hard to bring up and down. Just taks time zippint on windows.
The product itself is great. If you're buy a replacement for an older top just be aware that there is new badging on the outside of the top. Bestop is in white centered above the rear window. Not a big deal but its prominent and different from previous designs (I bought my last top 8 years ago). The only downside to the top are the installation instructions. Watch the video and it will go a lot smoother than simply reading the instructions. One thing to note is that as your are installing you will be wrapping the top around the bars and using screws to secure it in a few spots. The videos and instructions do not call out that the holes are not pre-drilled in the fabric. It is much easier to align these and pre-drill/cut the holes before putting the top on.
Comes with hardware
This is a quality built top and not bad to install. It is tight and looks great. My one BIG complaint is minor but what I think is BS. It’s the Bestop logo on the back of the top. It has a small logo on both door rails and a tag on the back window, so the 2” x 6” logo painted on the back is BS, especially because it was not shown in the photos. I am very particular about my Jeep and if I want to advertise for Bestop, I’ll buy a decal. At least it should have been shown in the photos when purchased.
Mine is now over a little over a year old. This has held up great.
It's easy to install and it keeps the water out. It goes up and down easy enough for one average person to do themselves in a pinch.
the window tint is a little overkill but it's still easy to see out of at night.
The kit was confusing, but thanks to youtube we were able to figure it out in 4 hours. The best part is, you can leave most of it assembled when removing in the fall and replacing your hardtop. This spring was the second time I installed the soft top and it only took a half hour. My only complaint is that my windows flap in the wind on the highway. I take the highway 30 miles to work everyday and I can barely hear my radio due to the noise. I don't see other Jeeps on the road with this issue. Could be my own error?
Great top, assembly was a little difficult but what do you expect. Might be hard to install but once u get it on works perfectly!
Very happy with top
It took 2 of us about 5 hours for the install. It was just as the video showed, but much more tedious. The tap in screws are a pain and the rear window was a pain until I asked another Jeep owner the trick - which is starting with both zipper heads and putting some wax on there to get them going. But, overall, easier than paying someone $500 to do it. I let it bake in the sun for 2 days (I live in the south, so it is hot now) and stretch. I put it down by myself without much problem - other than I didn't read to take the windows out first. Once I did that, it was fine. I had some problems putting it up by myself. I am not tall enough to reach. But, again, there are so many videos to help. And everyone says it is easier the more you do it. I was scared, but ended up not having any problem with the latches. So far I am pleased.
