Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11580.51 Hitch Receiver with Wiring Harness for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with Factory Steel Bumper
I'm not a guy who writes reviews, this might be my first. I ordered this for my '17 JK. I'm pretty mechanical and reading the previous reviews I figured it was not bad to install. I was wrong. This was stupid easy to install. I didn't have to drill holes or remove any other bolts. I literally held it up to my frame and stuck the bolts thru. I did use a pry bar to hold the bumper out a little bit to make it easier to put the nuts on. The longest part of the whole process was getting my taillight back on straight after I fed the wiring harness through. Seems to be very well made and super easy to install. Just buy it already, you won't regret it.
Price and reviews from other Jeep owners. Plus QT answered my question quickly.
Needed for cargo carrier.
Great reviews on product
The hitch is nicely finished and not difficult to install. For the factory steel bumper read the comment by David H. Which is a better set of instructions than what comes with the product. You have to reuse the factory bolts since they are longer than the ones that come with the hitch. I found I had to push up on the bumper while seating the bolts and after that everything went fine. I applied some threadlock to the bolts. Those of you who are counting pounds while watching your payload, the hitch and harness are 11 1/2 pounds together. The plug and play harness is a nice feature: no splicing.
Price and easy install
I have read a lot about which receiver models will work with 75th Anniversary/Rubicon factory steel bumpers and how hard it is to install this hitch. This was an easy install on my 2017 Wrangler JK 2-door 75th Anniversary edition. There are 4 bolts that hold on the factory bumper with a spacer bar between the bumper and frame. Use an 18mm socket and open end wrench to remove those bolts and the spacer; welded nuts are part of the bumper and there is sufficient space between the muffler and heat shield to remove and install the bolts without dropping the muffler. Lift up the receiver hitch and reinstall the bolts you just removed…tighten and torque. Wiring harness was even easier and secure tabs lined up with holes on the frame. Save the bolts that came with the hitch and the spacer bar.
Very easy to install, I have had it in now for almost three years and its still holding strong! I am a fishing guide and pull boats no problems at all.
Great product, very easy to install!
Just What I expected. bolt on and plug in.. quality hitch and harness.
