Reviews for Bushwacker 14013 TrailArmor Bug Guard & Tailgate Protector for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Speaking just about the bug guard...not impressed. Anything that installs with tape and is long like this is just trouble. Was not easy to get centered and remove tape to install. The tape doesn’t last that long either and had spots pulling up within a couple of weeks. Ended up pulling them off after a couple months.
Hood part is so far so good after a year and a half but the tailgate part started to pull off on the corners and I just couldn't stick them back on after a while. The tape stuck to the truck but disconnected from the part itself. I finally ripped the whole thing off because it bothered me and the tape was a real bigger to get off.a few blisters later but it came off clean. I'd like to try a new one but don't want to buy the whole kit again.
These things are not very good. First, they are not exact fit and aligning them and centering them is difficult. Secondly, the tape that holds them down is not very strong, so if you are unlucky, it will start popping up and you'll wind up throwing it in the trash (if it does not blow off on the highway as mine did).
I followed the instillation instructions, preparing the surface with wax remover alchol wipes supplied in addition to a commercial wax surface cleaner just to be sure the surface was prepared correctly. I then installed both the hood and tailgate protector. The weather was warm and the instillation went perfect. Over the next few weeks the rear tailgate adhesive began to pull away and lift at both ends. I used cargo straps to hold down the tailgate armor hoping for a perfect bond. Well, after I few months the tailgate armor became separated, the bonding adhesive failed to hold. I had to remove the tailgate armor. Upon removal, I noted the adhesive did stick to the the tailgate but had separated from the plastic armor itself. I would caution buyers, I may have received a product with defective adhesive. The hood armor has more adhesive strips and held with no issues. Dale
Looks great but it has only been on my Jeep two years and half of it flew up while I was traveling down the interstate. I had to stop twice and go 50 mph just to make it home safely. My jeep is garage kept and I don't understand why it hasn't lasted longer.
