Reviews for Daystar Hood Wranglers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Cheap fix, problem solved.
These hood latches have eliminated hood flutter and were easier to install than instructions stated. If you use care you don't need to remove the lower latch to prevent scratching your paint when using vise grips. I was able to break original pins easily and safely. They say to install when temp is in 60s or higher. I didn't and it made latching hood VERY difficult. I would recommend this product.
They definitely stop hood flutter but inspect them regularly for cracks. Mine were on for about two years (about 12K miles) when I noticed cracks in both of them. Promptly ordered another pair and would consider keep spares and tools on-board just in case one breaks loose on the road.
Had these on now for 3 years. Overall, no hood flutter, so in that sense they are working as intended. The negative is, they are SO tight, that it has smashed down the weatherstripping around the hood and the front corners of the hood is now in heavy contact with the body and it has caused the paint to wear to the point of bare metal on bare metal. This has now started to rust as well. Look at your hood, the gap between the hood and the body is smaller in the front, keep an eye on this so you don’t have excessive contact and wear. I think a better option is the metal latch rather than beefing up the rubber on this latch. I will be switching to those.
Easy install, stops the hood flutter, but makes it a bit harder close the hood latches now since it's so tight.
These were really good for a few years until they split. The lower attachment loop split across the pin. They only last so long and must be replaced. I will now see what the limited lifetime warrantee means. I posted a picture in the Customer pictures section.
Way too short. Installed as directed and can't close the latches, even with my buddy pushing down on the hood. Even if we could have closed the latches, I can't imagine how much they would compress the hood to the fenders. Had to reinstall the originals. It is 90F so temperature wasn't an issue. Just too short.
I would give it zero stars if I could. They are too short, they need to be longer. When I got them attached and went to hook my hood latch to close it when I got it stretched on and hooked it snapped the hood latch part attached to the hood. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY THIS.
^ months after replacing my first set of Daystar latches (They were cracked from the Louisiana sun and heat) I was on my way home and my driver's side latch snapped in the middle and that corner of the hood was flopping up and down. Will not buy again.
I’ve had these on my Jeep for like a week and already one of them broke.
