Reviews for Carnivore Spare Tire Reinforcement Bracket Kits for 18-24 Jeep Wrangler JL
I’ve installed the complete Carnivore Spare Tire Reinforcement Kit, and it’s a game-changer! Not only does it give my Jeep’s rear end a tougher, more aggressive look, but it also adds the strength needed to carry a larger spare tire securely. The installation was straightforward, with everything fitting perfectly. If you’re looking for a durable upgrade that enhances both style and functionality, this kit is a solid choice!
Love this product. If you upgrade to 35 and more,
the back door needs help. The install was super easy because of the instructions and the material of this product is very good. I give it 10/10
After upgrading to 35" tires and 17x9 wheels, every bump on the road would shake the rear door. When offroading I would remove the tire and strap it into the trunk area... After installing the Carnivore spare tire reinforcement kit, the jostling of the rear door has stopped! I 100% recommend this addition after upgrading tires/wheels. The rear door was not designed to carry the additional weight of oversized tires, and this product is the perfect solution to remedy this "problem".
Product seems great, but as other reviews have mentioned the bolts supplied with the kit, that fasten through the tailgate hinge, are atrocious. The instructions indicate these are torx head, but the kit ships with Allen head, and they are buttery soft. These bolts need to be tightened and loosened several times to fine tune the installation. I am writing the review I wish I had seen before buying the kit. Plan to supply your own bolts and don't even try to use the ones shipped with the kit.
I only purchased the reinforcement bracket, not the whole kit.
Arrived packaged perfectly with all parts accounted for.
Simple installation and I believe it does the job it’s intended for perfectly.
Four stars and not five because the 4 bolts for the hinges themselves are Allen head, not a torque like the factory bolts. I attempted to use them, however torquing them down to the required 35 foot pounds was sketchy. So I replaced them all with hex head bolts of the same length and zero issues torquing them down. If removal is necessary in the future, there will be no problem doing so. If proper hinge bolts were included, five stars all the way.
I received the bracket and checked the bolts after reading a previous review. I too received Pan head Hex type bolts (7/32) and not the Torques bits as described in the instructions. I too will be heading to the hardware store for more sturdier bolts.
I purchased the Carnivore Tailgate Reinforcement Bracket for my '20 Wrangler JL as my new tires ran 5 lbs. heavier than stock and I didn't want it to damage the tailgate. I chose this one since it matched Mopars setup but cost a little less. I'm happy with the quality of this bracket. It's nice solid metal and powder coated black and the kit includes the hardware. the reason I don't give it 5 stars is due to the hardware and instructions. The materials list calls for a Torx wrench (as the OEM hinge bolts are Torx). However, the kit does not supply Torx bolts, of a longer length to replace the OEM. I received Pan head Hex type bolts for the hinges (the instructions do not call for a hex key/wrench). These screws were not the same pitch nor diameter to the OEM. They fit sloppy and if needed to remove/replace for any reason they would strip out first try. I ended up going to the hardware store and getting M10x60mm hex head bolts for the extra durability. Long story short...the fitment and quality is great.
