Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11640.51 Max-Terrain Fender Flares for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL
They are flimsy but that’s actually good for me since I wheel my Jeep quite often and rub the fenders against rocks.
The brackets do rub the grill but all it takes is a little bend inward and the problem is solved.
Overall I like them and the price is very good.
The lights took on water and shorted after only about a month of modest use. The vendor support was awesome and sent out a new pair right away with no fuss no muss. Will report back and see if they went bad because, I had an early batch, or the lights are just inferior. My mechanic tells me very few vendors get these after-market lights, "right." Oracle is one of the few. This is why they are so expensive. For the money I plunked down on these I hope the right stay working.
Design is more than just looks. Daniel P's review was spot on. The fendor is clipped to the body like the original, but feels flimsy. I was unable to reuse any of my plastic push clips, so I used zip tipes to improvise until I can buy some. The light does not align correctly, seems ad-hock and slopy. Lots of design flaws (alignment, stability/support, sloppy light fit, and horrible instructions (really, it was quite badly written). Visually, it's quite an attractive fender flare set, just needs to be revised. Fix the flaws and folks will flock to it. PS, you will ABSOLUTELY need to buy some wheel well liners, you'll see why when you're done with the install. :)
Extremely flimsy plastic. It’s the kind of plastic you’d be afraid of bending, first set had a pebble go right through it when it was sent flying by my tires. Also a common thing on the JL forum, “Hyperform fender trash” put that into google and you’ll see an entire thread about the plastic. The gap between the body was pretty bad too upfront, and they ask that you use double sided tape to keep it from flapping like dumbo in the wind.
If it was malleable plastic where if someone brushed it against something and it bent back fine i get it. But these would just snap off. Look great also but leaves the body underneath the jeep exposed so you see paint color depending on which inners you’re running.
My first set aside from cracking, the DRL started failing when condensation build up, it was warrantied but didn’t feel worth it.
Just go look for a set of stock rubi flares and call it a day.
Very flimsy plastic, not enough support in the corner of the front fender where I starts to bend down to keep the plastic pressed against the body. It should include new push pins if you plan to reuse inner fender liners, its almost impossible to salvage any. The fender doesn't wrap around the light very well no matter how much you adjust it. The metal light bracket rubs the paint on the grill no matter how much you adjust it. The quality of the wiring and the method of sealing it are very poor quality. Overall not worth the money for Taiwan plastic and Chinese lights.
