Reviews for Body Armor JL-2965 Rear Full Width Base Bumper for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL
Love this bumper! Went on easily. Put it on alone. Bolts on VERY securely to the frame ends with four bolts on each side. Great product. Get the flush mount LED floods to go with it. Makes backing up on a rainy night super easy.
Accommodates factory sensors, and factory hitch!
That its full width and will wrap around the rear
Heavy and solid. I agree with all the comments above. It was half the price, had all the requirements I needed (rear sensor/LED placements, etc). I think it looks great. Only challenge was mounting it. You definitely need two-three people to help you cause it was heavy. After that it was easy. As for mounting and wiring the lights, that's a different story. That took a few hours as I ran the wires through the inside all the way to my sPod in the engine bay. I wanted to be able to manually turn on the lights vice just when I put it in reverse. Looks and works great. I recommend it. I'll post pics here shortly. - 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL MOAB (Granite Crystal Metallic)
Like Joe stated in his review, this bumper fit a certain set of requirements that I was looking for. I needed something that had cutouts for aux lights, a bumper that could accept a tire carrier, and something that was compatible with the stock towing hitch. This bumper somehow fit all of those parameters, and with a lower price than I was expecting. Bumper showed up relatively well packaged, wrapped in bubble wrap and with a decent amount of styrofoam to protect the contents. Installation was done by myself, though I would not recommend doing this alone. It goes by much easier with someone to help, or if you have a means to lift this heavy piece of metal up to secure the bolts to the frame. Am extremely please with this purchase and have already ordered the tire carrier to install. Some things to note - the instructions say to install the license plate frame last. I wouldn't do this as it's a pain to get those bolts secured through the small gap between the bumper and the rear body panels. The rear license plate light is NOT LEDs, so that's also kind of a bummer. Also, if you plan on installing rear aux lights in the bumper, I would do this before putting the bumper on. If your 3" cube aux LEDs use the top mounting position on the bumper, it's pretty much impossible to do this when the bumper is already installed. You'll have an easier time if the cube lights utilize the bottom mounting position within the rear bumper. Unfortunately the Harbor Freight lights I installed would not align properly with the bottom position and I had to remove the entire bumper to use the top mounts.
Overall very happy with this bumper. I mainly wanted something that was compatible with the factory towing package and this fit the bill. That extra features and relatively low price were just bonuses. Quadratec also shipped super fast and I received this within a couple of days.
I bought this bumper because it had cutouts for LED lights, backup sensors, and it has a license plate mount, and it compliments the QRC full width front bumper that I ordered. First, the packaging was pretty shotty and there were a couple of scuffs on the bumper (it came thinly-wrapped in a veil of bubble-wrap and cardboard). But aside from that, man is this thing sturdy and well-built! Installation was not too bad. Instructions are good. I spent more time trying to get the OEM bumper off, and apart to retrieve the back-up sensors. I used the (Q&A) recommended Quadretec 3" cube LED lights. If you have the tow package you can just use the 2-wire pigtail and don't need the whole harness. I used a motorcycle jack and wood blocks to lift it up to where I could mount it. They were a little tricky to get situated just right, but I got it done. I absolutely love how great the fit is and great it looks too. I also like the built-in mount for an oversize spare tire carrier in case I upgrade in the future. The design and craftsmanship are outstanding and I highly recommend this bumper.
Nice bumper-relatively easy install and actually came with installation instructions. Only drawback is the 35x12.5x18 will not fit onto the OEM spare tire holder.
Solid bumper. Installation took a bit longer than expected, but the manufacturer responded to me within an hour when I hit a snag and needed clarification on instructions. I agree with others that installing cube lights into the bumper was maddening, but the can’t argue with the end result, especially for the price. Thanks do have long-term concerns about the potential for dirt and moisture that tend to sit on the bumper (particularly under the tire) to cause rust, but so far so good.
Loved the look and function of the bumper. It was easy to install except for the license plate bracket. Install it prior to mounting the bumper as reaching the screws is a nightmare once its on. It comes with the cut outs to cover the holes for the aux until you decide what lights you want to put in. The holes for the back up sensor were perfect. It was much easier to install then expected. The four star rating was due to the license plate carrier. It did not come with a plate light or method of securing the wiring. I made one for it pretty easily, but felt it should have had these included.
Bumper arrived with minimal damage to the box, they try to keep it from moving around with styrofoam inserts, but it's only wrapped in a thin layer of bubble wrap so a few scuffs nothing major.
Instruction are not bad, but put the license plate bracket on before mounting the bumper. If you do not the backup sensors you are going to struggle with the rubber plugs. There is a lip in the hole of the bumper that stops the plug from going all the way through. I emailed and called Body Armor looking for a solution but never received any replies. Ended up trimming the plugs to fit.
Rest of the install went off with no problems. Its a very sturdy bumper and a nice upgrade from the stock plastic bumper.
