Reviews for Quadratec Spare Tire Mount Backup Camera for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Very happy with this upgrade kit. I've only had it installed for a week, so I won't comment on durability. I got a little confused with the power connections as the cigarette lighter portion of the kit was different than the instructions. I purchased a Veepeak OBD2 reader that worked great updating the radio for video input.
Works great, the harnas makes it really easy to install and connect, take your time to look at video’s on YouTube, it will save you time and irritation. The installation manual is a bit confusion .... but that‘s most stuff with a Jeep ! Anyway yes good price /quality!
and I enabled my 430N radio with OBD2 and JSCAN, save yourself a trip to the dealer and between 50 - 150 bucks in purchase price and dealer activation cost ! 4 stars because manual is confusing.
Works great. The install is a challenge, the camera was up side down and the wire from the camera is a bit short to route it the way the instructions showed.Great camera and mount cable from radio to spare rear is great plenty long in a 2 door
Install went well. This kit comes with a full length power cable intended to be passed back to the head unit at the front of the vehicle....some installations draw power from the rear of the vehicle (brake light power). I was grateful to have plenty of cable to run power from the head unit at the front of the vehicle. The convenience wire on the video cable (small red wire) was also useful for sending the reverse indicator from the back reverse light to the head unit for my manual transmission JK. Image quality is acceptable but not exceptional.
Instructions in the box are not the same as on the website, provided instructions are garbage. Camera quality is surprisingly poor, the image looks like something recorded on a camera phone from the early 2000s, still usable but not good. The camera mount itself is a plastic (?) screw, feels very flimsy and allows the camera to bounce and vibrate, making the image quality even worse.
All in all, not impressed and I wish I'd spent my $150 on a better kit.
Seems like a great product. But if you changed your tire, it will not be a great fit. Needs a part to mount further out so it’s getting full camera angle. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/42/02/40D7A9B7-79F4-4F0F-955E-A35195ED474F/RenderedImage.HEIC
camera installed dealer flashed and checked radio everthing good on that end camera not turning on when in reverse not happy system cost me $4oo counting dealer labor and still no cam maybe should have bought a cheep one from ebay
Barely installed a month and showing rust over all the screws, and during the summer no less. Camera as pictured and installed gives an upside down image that washes out on a bright day.
