Reviews for Quadratec Daytime Running Light DRL Adapter Wiring Harness for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
Great simple harness and easily works and gives you two options: tap into the market light when the headlights are on, or tap into the DRL when the headlights are off.
Few things to note: 1) DRL lights turn off when the headlights turn on and the marker lights turn on with the headlights, and 2) there is a DRL override with in the UConnect settings.
I did dock it one star as even though it is a Level 2 (intermediate) installation, I was not able to get to the connector without completely removing the inner fender - so replacement rivets are needed to reinstall the factory inner fender liner.
Didn't want to cut/splice wires this allows me to return to stock setup.
Locating the wiring harness is easy. Pop out the clips on the drivers side fender look towards the brake booster, there it is. Routing the wires into the engine bay with no issues. Explanation of the wiring is not good. I tried both sets and found that each do something different. I have my running lights on the light bar on when the parking lights are on. If u use the other wire they are on when the Stock DRLs are on but off when the parking lights are on. It’s kinda weird and the directions are vague. I tried also using both sets on two different lights and they do two different things. So I ended up splicing the wiring together so both DRLs on my aftermarket light are are the same.
I had the same issue as Chad S. but the DRL would also blink when the left turn signal was on. I noticed that the wiring into one of the connectors (male pin side) was the opposite of what it should be, so I pulled the pins out and reinserted in the opposite order. It worked fine after that. I am going to ask for an exchange, as removing and reinserting the pins definitely stresses the wires and connector. Sounds like a quality control problem.
As Dan M. notes, you will need two of these if you want to turn off the associated Halo when using either turn signal. They should note this in the description.
BIG ISSUE with this wiring harness. As mentioned by Chaz S. The harness does, in fact, knock out your parking lights. Here is the reason: The wiring harness is built incorrectly!! The main side connector of the harness is fine. The fender side end of the connector is installed backwards. The wires are in the exact opposite order from where they should be. There is a locator between pins 5 and 6 you will notice the wires are mismatched. The SOLUTION is to remove the wire loom from the harness. The cut wires at the exact same length as far from the fender side connector as possible to facilitate soldering or butt connectors. Flip the connector over and reconnect the wires in the opposite order that they were connected. I have completed this task and the harness is now working properly. The harness itself is of excellent build quality with the exception of the connector being installed backwards.
Good idea but...
On ALL Jeep JL with factory LED options these instructions do not work nor does the harness. In my instance my 2021 Jeep JLR has 2 lights in the fender 1at DRL, 2nd turn ind (no marker/backlight). The 12V ignition on power on red, good. Yellow would be same exact thing but we don't have marker lights. This harness would great if it offered red as DRL to fender, Yellow to turn ind to same , alt color for marker or back lighting option. This would enable ALL of us who run aftermarket fenders without lights to run let's say KC Flex Era 4 and power backlight on red then add KC Cyclones to grill (JL) and power them on yellow leaving alt color as an option. Or just create another harness for fender light delete red is drl and yellow is turn ind.
Not worth $30. The DRL is the WH/YE and the park lights are WH/BN at the connector. Besides, what Quadratech calls running lights is actually park lights and they go off when you turn your headlights on or in auto. Aside from that, they are well made.
unless you have access to a lift, good luck trying not only to find the connector but to get to it is almost impossible, took me a good 4 hours of trying to get to it.
I had a similar issue. The harness is pinned out wrong. My issue was the ground was incorrectly connected going to my lights. I resolved this by getting a ground with a ring terminal on a bolt.
The DRL lead is near useless, as when the left turn signal is on, the left DRL will be turned off, and thereby whatever the DRL lead was powering as well.
