Reviews for Quadratec 2 Bike Platform Rack for 2" Receiver Hitch
Extended for Wrangler spare tire
It's great! Assembly was relatively easy.
Easily carries 2 carbon bikes securely. There is a little wiggle in the receiver but I plan to add a couple shims to solve that. Clears the rear tire well and the joints are solid. Also much cheaper than other generic carriers plus an extender to clear the spare tire.
Easy install was able to drill hole on Support bracket and use cable tire lock.
Good price vs. competition. Weight rating adequate for my purposes (my wife and I own a Trek road bike and an eBike.) Should fit on back of my 2011 JK even with 37" oversize tire mounted on back. Holding off on giving 5-star review as I just ordered the rack and haven't received it, yet.
Excellent rack.
This rack can support a 27.5+ mountain bike along side a kids 20" bike. The fact that it supports bikes from the wheels rather than the frame is excellent and the fact that it's hitch is extended to fit with a Wrangler spare tire make it a sure win.
There are two flaws with this hitch that anyone considering must know.
It's very heavy. The construction is steel. It will likely last a long time, but the rack is heavy enough that you might need assistance in installing it into your receiver.
The second flaw is the mechanism for folding does not have a safety catch. Mine doesn't match the photos, the lever to disengage the positioning lock points down, and requires being rotated back to unlock. Which means that it could, theoretically, be disengaged by something on the road (speed bump? road debris? rocks and garbage? harsh bump?). There is no positive lock on the handle or mechanism to secure this. It's not likely a problem, but I can see it being an issue in rare cases.
Well built. Very heavy to lift but that is the trade off to handle 110lbs in bike weight. Holds bikes well from road bike to 3” tire size 29inch mountain bike. Didn’t give it 5 stars do to the weight and a few minor design flaws but good value for the money.
Been using for 4 years without any issues, until the rust started this year.
Its a nice carrier but quite heavy in weight compared to my Kuat. Does not fit 2 fat tire bikes. the frame on the outer bike will hit the front tire upright of the inner one. I was able to cut and remount the outer about 8 inches further back now fits fine.
I ordered this bike rack on 02/28/21, it just came in 10/6/2021. They continuously kept pushing dates every Friday for when this would be shipped. My wife won’t let me order from Quadratec because of this. Otherwise seems like a sturdy rack.
