Reviews for WARN VR EVO Series Winch
The winch itself is fantastic and works very well. But, the rope came damaged right out of the box and I wasn't able to get it replaced without just buying a new one myself..
Winch works O.K. Remote has a rechargeable lithium ion battery that can be charged with appropriate charger. Line termination on the drum is completely inefficient and mine broke right away with plenty of line still on the drum. I welded an M12 nut on the side of the drum and terminated the line to that. I don't know how you would use the winch without strengthening that line bolt.
Seems like a good winch. Be aware that if you loose the winch controller, this winch is not compatible with any other WARN controller. I am having a lot of trouble finding a replacement making my winch a large paper weight at the moment. I hope they will release more compatible controls in the future or at least make it easier to find a replacement.
This winch DOES NOT come with the 2-in-1 wired/wireless remote like the description says. Still waiting to hear back on what Warn/Quadratec will do to resolve this (hopefully at least a credit/voucher so I can purchase a wireless controller).
Props to Quadratec, though, for quick support and initiation of contact with Warn when I found this out.
Do not buy, this Warn winch no longer has the wireless feature. This is extremely over priced to not have the remote wireless. They also make it seem like it is still wireless. Save some money and buy a Superwich.
These winch have went down hill big time I have been buying warn winches for a few years now and the vr series were good winch, now that they switch to the evo series they cut the rating of the winches and it definitely shows a vr8 ratings are comparable to the vr evo 12 I am finding a new brand winch to buy
