Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11226.12 Elite Tail Light Guards for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL with Factory LED Tail Lights
Had for a 1.5 years the piant is coming off completely. I contacted rugged ridge and they said they can't help me because I bought it from quadratec.
I loved the look when I first installed these. However, the paint has already started to peel off leaving a white/grey looking surface. I uploaded a picture but I am sure that Quadratec will not post it as it shows how poor quality these are.
I currently have 3 wranglers. I put these on all 3 in the past 18 months. All 3 sets have begun to turn white or paint just falling off of them. They look horrible. For the cost I expected them to last longer . If you are considering these , I would strongly suggest looking at other options. Pics available to post.
The video does not address the 2021 JL Wrangler Sport S 2-door as the taillights have a fir tree zip-tied wiring harness on the mounting bracket which requires the zip-tie to be cut in order to properly install the item. In other words, the wiring harness is attached to the mounting bracket even after it is disconnected. As for the product itself, as others have said, the Rugged Ridge packaging is terrible. There is a large hole cut out of the Rugged Ridge box which is covered by some type of masking tape which barely holds. Also, the same masking tape is used to secure the bottom of the box which means the box is really not very sturdy. There was no plastic or any type of insulation around the guards themselves so they bounce around and rub together during shipment. I received two of them that were badly chipped as a result.
The biggest issue is that they don't fit together seamlessly and that two of the bolts holding the guards together would not screw in all the way which then made them nearly impossible to fit into the frame. It was as if the holes weren't large enough to accommodate the full length of the bolts. Finally, the customer is supposed to apply the included foam rubber tape to attempt to seal the light to prevent leaks. Why doesn't the manufacturer simply have a gasket already attached to the guards?
Let me say that I love the look of these as they are solid, however, some reviewers complained that the finish began chipping and bubbling months after installation.
Hopefully, the manufacturer will make these better for the 2021 tail lights in the future by improving the fit, sealing, packing and shipping of the item. I'd rather pay another $50 and have it fit correctly. I sent them back.
Can't reattach to 2020 Jeep Rubicon with 35 inch tire mounted on rear. Tail Lamp Spring Wire Screw won't reach/catch. Need to return. Someone mentioned this was written somewhere on the product, but I never saw it.
Doesn’t fit had to spend 4 hours fabricating to make fit
Beautiful lights but didn’t fit my JL 2018. It would require too much shaving and drilling . Sending them back ..
