Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11226.12 Elite Tail Light Guards for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL with Factory LED Tail Lights
Appearance.
Installation was pretty straightforward.
The only issue were the bolts did not go into the holes easy due to paint overspray. This caused having to use a drill and other tools to secure it properly.
Hi.
After installation, it showed an error that the blind spot sensor on the left does not work. Any ideas why and how to solve this.
I'm another who didn't read the reviews to learn these don't work with the Mopar HD tire carrier. Easy installation, look nice, but the tailgate is going knock the light off eventually. Seems like they could have slimmed it down to accommodate more carriers.
Doubt they would protect from more than a grocery cart hitting them but they look cool. Super easy to install, ignore instructions on foam pad and put as much on each one as possible. Especially the top so water stays out.
These are very well designed and built of awesome quality. A bit spendy but worth it! Only one thing should be improved, and it's the only reason I gave 4 stars rather 5, is the roll of gasket cheese included. The gasket should come as one piece designed and made for this part rather than the roll included to be cut in pieces and stuck on various places of the tail light guard. No big deal but if this had one fit gasket or if the gasket pieces were factory stuck on, that would be great. I would still highly recommend this cool product, and Quadratec made the whole ordering process perfect.
Giving it 4 stars to start because everything looks great when you stand behind it. Install was pretty simple, only about 45 minutes. The one hesitation I have is there seems to be a slight gap at the top of each light housing. It is not totally flush against the body of the Jeep, is this common for those of you who already installed? I am concerned about water is all. Otherwise I love the look and simplicity of install.
Great looking item to "ruggedize" the Wrangler JL with LED taillights. Made from sturdy cast aluminum with what appears to be a powder coated finish so hopefully will look good for a long time. Assembly takes a few minutes but is well thought out and straightforward. Just don't be in a big hurry since the foam tape takes time to apply if you want it perfectly straight and in the right places. The included roll is barely long enough so be sure not to waste any. Would have given 5 stars if the design had included a way for all of the factory light module attachments to continue to function. The JL has a huge nylon screw (for lack of a better term) with a concentric spring that maintains constant tension of the light assembly to the body. There is also a plastic alignment pin and a rectangular tab that provide more contact with the body in the OEM configuration. However this light guard adds just enough material to the back of the light housing to prevent the pin and tab from locking into holes in the body so the entire job of holding the now heavier light assembly in place is delegated exclusively to the afore mentioned large nylon screw. This should be fine for street applications and extremely mild off-roading but I would be very concerned with how this would hold up under serious G-forces such as banging around on rocks (hopefully they will survive interstate potholes). For now they look super cool and as long as the lights don't fall off I am very happy with them.
Easy install and great fit. The reason for only 4 stars is that on the top seam of both guards, it is rough and many small chips on the edge of one piece.. Probably done in the manufacturing process since powder coat finish is fine. Took less than an hour to install.
Not compatible with the Mopar tailgate reinforcement bracket - top hinge area rubs and pushes tail light guard outward. Just an FYI for those of you that have it
