Reviews for Quadratec Softbond 5-Layer Cab Cover for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited
I have a bum shoulder, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to put this on and take it off on my own. I'm a 5'8" female and my rig has a small 2.5" lift. When I tell you I struggled the first few times, I really mean I struggled. My husband offered to do it for me every time and I wouldn't let him. I'm stubborn. By the 4th time I had put it on and taken it off I had it down to a science and it takes me less than 5 mins for either on my own now! My husband got a cheapy off of Amazon and just asked me to send him the link for mine because he likes it WAY better than his.
TLDR: Excellent product. Fits snug with or without the doors on. Once used to it you can put it on and take it off in 5 mins or less.
Ease of use
Bought for my bf who hates having the roof on his jeep, even if it means a wet interior. Now it'll stay dry when he's at work
I rarely write reviews for products, but today I am filled with the desire and need to share my story of this wonderful product. As we renovate our recently purchased home, garage space is at a premium. As such, storage of the hard top for Graybeard, that’s our 2020 JLU Sport S (I only mention that so you know I almost exclusively wear Crocs when driving this vehicle), is not an easy feat. And before you say add a lift and raise it for storage, the garage will be the last area to be remodeled so why do the work twice?
Back to the review… I spent a long time looking at this cover, adding it to my cart, talking myself out of it, adding it back in, and leaving it dormant for months. I believe it went in and out of stock a couple of times while I held the spot in the cart. I finally placed my order on July 30, 2022 and was given a delivery date of the following Thursday-Friday by the Blue and Orange logo shipping company. Not too bad. Thursday I received my “On vehicle for delivery” notification from the Blue and Orange. As the day progressed, my excitement got the best of me and I stripped Graybeard down naked over my lunch break at our storage unit with the confidence of a man who knows when his delivery will arrive! I was sure I would be able to cover the Jeep and sleep peacefully knowing the birds would not sh!t in the interior overnight. The truck arrived, just after work. I stood in the driveway, pacing in a mix of excitement and joy that a only child on Christmas morning would have knowing what was in the wrapping paper, having snuck a peek while mom and dad were at work. And then it happened… as quickly as the truck arrived, it simply drove away with the driver never stepping out of the vehicle. “Odd” I think to myself. You can see my head droop in sadness on our security video as I realized I would not receive my package. Just after 8:00pm I received the message that would make my sadness turn to rage:
“Delivery exception. Customer not home or business closed”.
“Exsqueeze me?!” “Baking powder?!” (10 points to you if you get the reference)
I was home. The package required no signature. The driver did not step out of the vehicle. OH! And did you catch the part about the video?!?! Yeah. Security camera captured the whole “I wasn’t home” thing. Sorry. Review….
I received the package Friday. Well packaged. Directions were fairly clear: Put on vehicle without the roof and doors. As one should do when ordering the item that protects the interior of the vehicle from the elements when the door and roof are removed. Good fit. Nice material. I close up the Jeep and I wait… no rain. Saturday morning I remove the cover and go about my business all day. Rain coming that night, but I’m ready. Saturday night, cover, strap down and get ready for the rain… That never came again. Starting to look like the dry lakebed at Groom Lake around here. But Sunday it’s cooler and cloudy… for a bit. Sunday night, the rain is coming. I cover. I strap it tight. I wait. And at 1:00am the rain wakes me. Yes! I look out the window… ok I pulled up the camera app on my phone and looked. Raining. Jeep covered. I fall back asleep happy.
Busy with work Monday morning so I didn’t go out to check things for a bit. Lunch rolls around and I need to run an errand. I’m a little short on time, but Graybeard is naked for a reason! I start unstrapping. I notice “Hmmm… that seems tighter than before.” But I continue. There are 13 mount points: Six side straps, two bungees on the windshield, four plastic inserts along the trunk area, and the rear adjustable strap. I start at the windshield. Work my way around (don’t forget part about it being a little tighter). I release the last plastic insert and the whole cover moves a little. I ignore this OBVIOUS warning sign, and pull the cover to remove it.
It was in this moment it occurred to me, that it rained last night. And before my brain can even process the thought, what I have now affectionately dubbed “Lake Quadratec” has unleashed a cascading waterfall with enough volume to possibly re-submerge some of those boats that keep popping up at Lake Mead. That’s right all… I didn’t drain the rainwater from the top of the cover before removing it. I would love to tell you that I was distracted saving a child from a burning building or a puppy from a runaway car… but no. I was dumb. That’s it. Where did all of that water go you ask? Well right down into the driver’s seat of course! So as I sit here typing this with a wet a$$, here is the TL;DR:
Easy to use both installing and packing for one person. Good material. Strong straps. Very economical solution to cover your Jeep from the elements while the hard top is to red away for the summer. Held up to rain and thunderstorms overnight while keeping the interior dry. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend!
Easy install.
