Reviews for Bushwacker 10923-07 Flat Style Fender Flares for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL
Clean looking
Not as wide as others, plus have a turn signal
I give it 5 stars because of the end-result and the after-sale service and help provided by them. Not enough companies provide good customer service if problems arise installing their product, or something's broke, or not working right. These guys are great. Let's talk about the installation, shall we? Okay, let me first mention that with today's camera-tricks and editing capabilities, the install video makes it look like a breeze. But, what they don't show you is the 300 "CUT!!!" times they had to stop to calm the guy down from swearing and throwing tools. I'm very mechanically inclined. I replace my Lower Control arms and track bar myself, in my driveway. I can do just about anything, save engine rebuilds (and I say this only because I haven't done it yet, but I bet I can so that too)...this was the toughest install I've ever done. Took me 4 days. Not full days, because after 5 hours I got so mad that I had to stop and drink lots of alcohol. But, 4 days, 2 weekends. The driver-side turn signal wasn't working so I called Bushwacker and they immediately sent me another one. I had to cut a little off of the rear fenders because my aftermarket Go Rhino bumper was hitting the very end of it. In the end, when all was said and done, and I didn't kill anybody or get divorced, the fenders look simply awesome. The side marker lights light up the wheel well at night. Just fabulous. Very happy. Regarding installing the Bushwhacker fender flares on a 2018 JL Wrangler Sport.. Please see (several times) the video by Rob Jarrell. It's great and a good primer for the install. He does a fine job of explaining some details not listed in the paper instructions. Make sure that you check the hole alignment for the nuts clips, before you cover them up with the fender. AND, I found that blue painters tape is great for holding the fender in place while you adjust fitment and get the metal screws. It's easy to move to re-adjust and easy to remove afterward. (I did the install by myself. it took a couple hours each day for two days. I wanted it just right) Oh, I'm 82!.
The look
I really like these fender flares. I did not install them myself because after watching the installation video, it looked like it was going to be time consuming and that some equipment I didn't have. I love the look of these flares, but I don't love that they're plastic because they easily stain (if tire cleaner or another type of cleaner gets on them). Overall I'm happy with the product, but I do this it's overpriced.
The fit was good it did take awhile to install them. My son and I worked on them 8hrs. We took 4hrs to remove and fit one front and another 4 to do the rest. One lens popped off and we glued it back on. The blinkers were fast and it threw a turn light out code I have the led package. I already had a tazer jl and disabled the front led turn indicator. All good now on to the trees.
These might have received five stars from me, were it not for a gouge on the left rear and the surprise that came with discovering the front LEDs are completely orange! I expected that for the little round side marker, but not at all for the front.
Every other fender/fender light setup I've looked at has had white lights there, so it never even crossed my mind it could be orange. I even went back to the install video to see if I had missed it, and noticed Quadratec has a blurred shot of it as the camera pans by. If you see that shot knowing it's orange, you'll pick up on it. Otherwise, you would almost certainly miss it. A part of me wonders if this is on purpose, as there are zero still photos listed of it while lit up. I feel like I had seen a photo or video of it appearing white somewhere, such as Bushwacker's 'gray ghost' video from SEMA 2018, but I digress.
Anyway, my disappointment is muted on account of the fenders themselves looking great on my black JL, and in view of the fact that I purchased them with a $75 instant rebate. So, in my mind, you could just invest the cost savings in another light option if it was a deal breaker (the TPO material is easily drilled/modified for an alternative light if unable to reuse the existing hole). I'll keep mine for now, and I do still recommend this product.
Would get 5 stars but I Just don't like that their plastic! Should've read the details before buying them. Way over priced for them being plastic!! And they scratch very easy. Easy to install but I Don't recommend them for the price they are. Also the signal lights aren't bright at all.
Do not get, had this for 3 years now since I installed it on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler. I replaced both lights twice already since then cause the leds just turn off on some of them. The "UV Protectant" doesn't protect at all. My once black fenders are faded like the memories on why I even bought these flares. I always park in the shade and they are just washed out. I don't recommend anyone to get this as its garbage for a $500 price tag. Don't say I didn't warn you!!!
