Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11546.55 Spartacus HD Tire Carrier Kit for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL
Exactly what I was looking for. Easy installation.
Pretty Sturdy and basic install, the hardest part is aligning the door. Everything looked great closed, but once opened the tailgate dropped. So had to remove the tire and try again. Got it the second time but just something to double check.
No more tailgate clunking! this kit replaced the Smittybuilt relocation bracket I used to accommodate the 35" tire on my JL. The smittybuilt worked to fit the tire on the tailgate but the weight of the tire shook things too much on bumpy roads. This kit eliminated all of the rattle. Very easy to install with basic tools, the hardest part was lifting the spare back into place. We are very happy with this purchase
High quality product. Looks awesome and can handle the additional weight of our oversized tire/wheel. Installation was a breeze.
Installed this two weeks ago to hold my 37" spare. The hinge reinforcement had detailed instructions but the carrier did not. I had to look at the pictures from the website to see how it pieced together. That said, it is a very well built product and looks great.
It's beefy and easily holds a 35" tire. Easy to install and holds everything firmly in place. No clunking when going over bumps. The hardware that bolts to the tailgate will rust almost immediately. I recommend getting some better hardware. I found the 3rd brakelight relocation studs were too short with my aftermarket wheels. I scrapped them in favor of the Metal Cloak kit which was far superior in design.
There were a couple issues with this installation. First it took a while for the unit to come as I waited over a month because it was on back order. Next there were no installation instructions for the tire carrier with the tire carrier kit. The rear brake light has to be mounted on the tire. So to change a tire, you have to remove the brake light, then the tire. Have to keep an Allen wrench on hand to remove the break light. There is no non-offensive way to route the wires for the brake light as they must pass through the tire and are exposed to the world. Lastly, the metal protective cover that is supposed to go on the back up camera mount is so thick, that you cant put the spare tire around it. So you cant put the protective cover over the camera and the camera is exposed to the world.
