Reviews for MasterTop Ultimate Summer Combo Tops in MasterTwill® Fabric for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited 4 Door
Thumbs up
The look
Easy install - took a couple hours the first time and this summer everything went on in about 45 minutes. I ended up just using the trunk cover to get a different look but it's so easy to take on and off, provides great protection and easy to clean with a brush on the end of a drill, looks great. I stopped using the top, wanted more ventillation so now I have a spider top.
Not completely waterproof but I knew that going in. I purchased the skid row top props in conjunction with this top and they worked perfectly. Love the top combo.
Bought this to replace a torn standard soft top. Love the look. Fit is great. This top may not be 100% waterproof, but it is in all the areas that matter. Had a huge storm with heavy wind and rain, cab and dash are bone dry. Small amount of rain in bed due to seams on rear roll bars. Wouldn't use this as a spring/fall soft top where more steady rain is expected, but for east coast summer rain/showers I am not worried about the moisture in back bed. I threw a couple desiccant packs in areas that might not get aired out as much. Side note water will pool on back of roof. I used the clip in bows that came with my bestop soft surrounds and it fixed that problem! Instructions arent the best either. LOVE this top.
Love the look material feels great and it went on semi smooth with the exception of the rear seat belts. If your not very careful this top can and will impede the way the seatbelts operate leaving the unresponsive so the will not retract or lock up. Other than that it went on like a a charm. The look it incredible and well worth the money.
Lots of straps and buckles on this one. I installed it myself in about 3 hours, took me a while to figure it all out.
My jeep has both hard/soft tops. I removed my hard top and didn't realize I had to unscrew a screw in the back rollbar to install one of the straps. Also the middle cross bar rollbar part was confusing, you clip the clip into an hole on the TOP of the cross bar!
Took my jeep on the highway 80mph. not hardly as noisy as you would think!! It rained/poured on me as well, we stayed completely dry.
The strap that has the spring, well that D ring just pulled apart on me, I had to turn it into some weird crimped thing. Also, I had to install the door surrounds from my soft top.
Right now, I have the top off, the windstopper ON and the tonneau cover ON. Looks very cool.
** What about those little springs from the soft top? they leave a bump between the front and rear doors.
Great for the money, lots of different ways to wear this one!
Great top so far and easy to install. I purchased the soft top version so I used my existing door surrounds. Had a slight issue getting the rear cargo cover stretched to each side but waiting until a warm sunny day resolved it. Road noise is there but no different than a regular soft top. The rear window provides a nice wind break when riding with the window up and top removed. Very happy with it so far!
Bought the "Hardtop" version a couple weeks ago. Despite a PEBCAK error with payment (the ever-awesome Quadratec Customer Service folks were super helpful and solved the case!), the top was delivered quickly and the boxes arrived in excellent condition.
Installation seemed pretty easy and didn't take long, though this is my first soft top of any kind so I don't have much of a frame of reference. The door surrounds were a bit of a pain to put together. Judging by what I can see of other aftermarket surrounds, MasterTop's aren't "great" but they get the job done and I haven't had an issue with them yet.
The Top, Wind Stopper, and Tonneau are EXCELLENT! By myself, the top and WS come off in a few minutes, putting them on takes only slightly longer. You should have a rain app on your phone and check the weather any way so I have no sympathy for you. The Twill is strikingly darker than any sailcloth tops I've ever seen and wind noise is not bad at all from the little Highway driving I do.
The ONE complaint I have and I'd almost take half a star off for it cause it's such a bone-head mistake; there is a metal MasterTop badge on the top located on the driver's side and sits right on top of the overhead speaker unit (its on the outside and interior of the top). So if the top is on and you roll down your window, the badge tap tap taps right behind your left ear. A small piece of padding with 3m tape takes care of it though (You'll have some if you get the hardtop version).
It hasn't rained much since I've put it on so I can't speak to how "water tight-ish" it is but I love love LOVE it, excellent buy!
