Reviews for AMP Research 75132-01A PowerStep for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited
This is going to be a long review of the install.
Shipped fast & opened package with no damages seen to any of the items, very well packaged for shipping the product.
Removed the factory rock sides from my 2023 Jeep 10mm & 13mm ( 540 miles on it )
After studying the instructions & reading them more than once, I started following them step by step, & not even after about halfway through the install, I seen I was short 4 bolts to mount the steps & ended up using the factory bolts to finish mounting the main parts that hold the steps.
On to installing the steps per the installation process & next the motors on the front, found out real fast, I needed to remove the steps & the front mounts in order to install the bolts to the motor & then reinstall the mounts. ( yes, this turned into a major project & time consuming ) .
The wiring went pretty smooth, zip ties anywhere that needed them to keep it from even becoming a problem.
The covers for the motors had plastic plugs that broke as soon as I went to push them in & simply used small zip ties to keep the covers in place. ( was shorted 1 there as well )
Now the instructions were not clear but simply put, I'm putting this here for someone else to not have to backtrack to keep that 3-4 hours if you're working by yourself.
Also nowhere in the instructions does it state use an Allen ( 4.5 ) to fully extend the steps in the lowered position to help yourself later while installing the wires. ( Allen on the end of the motor -- it's slow by hand but you will not damage the motor this way. )
Now, on to the lights ... personally I'd use old school to keep them from coming apart with a wire nut & electric tape, & still use electric tape using the supplied butt connectors to save yourself a headache later. The lights work really good & " flood " the step area very well to see where you want to step.
You'll need a step ladder to climb on the top of the engine while running the wires to make sure to keep them away from as much heat as possible, & a jack stand to lift it up to get under the Jeep or whatever you are putting the steps on.
The " rubber plug " is plastic now on the 2023 Jeeps going through the firewall.
Style

Disappointing Experience with AMP Research PowerStep from Quadratec
In October 2023 I purchased the AMP Research 75132-01A PowerStep for my 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited from Quadratec, which includes 'Satisfaction Guaranteed', a 'No-hassle return policy', and an impressive 5-Year/60,000 Mile Warranty. Eager to improve my Jeep's accessibility for an older family member, I invested an additional $500 for professional installation.
However, my excitement was swiftly led to disappointment after discovering damage to the driver-side step upon delivery. But I figured a replacement part should be pretty straightforward based on Quadratic's promises. And according to my mechanic, the replacement process involves removing just four bolts, making installation a swift and straightforward task lasting only a few minutes. Despite this, my attempts to resolve the issue by reaching out to Quadratic's customer service, involving interactions with 7 different representatives, have gotten me nowhere. As of April 2024, I am yet to receive a replacement step, which I have been told (since Feb) by one of the last representatives, seems to be perpetually on back order with AMP.
For a product that boasts a "Satisfaction Guaranteed" policy and carries a premium price tag, accepting a damaged step on my brand-new Jeep is unacceptable. The substantial investment in both the product and professional installation only amplifies my frustration.
The prolonged response time and unmet commitments from Quadratec have left me with a sour impression. I had anticipated a hassle-free experience, as advertised, but unfortunately, my decision to purchase from Quadratec is one I now regret. If you're contemplating the AMP Research PowerStep for your Jeep, I strongly recommend exploring alternative retailers with a more dependable customer service track record.
