Reviews for LoD Offroad Destroyer Series Rock Sliders for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4-Door
Amazing side steps/sliders that meet the trifecta of easy install, great looks, and awesome protection. I can now slide along the rocks while also having steps for my daughter to climb into the jeep. Since this is more like a boat slider with indented steps there are no concerns about being hung on rocks like other steps.

I just finished the install on my 4xe. I wanted the extra protection in case I hit a trail or two, (wouldn't go over large rocks without these and probably a 2" lift and 37's) but really wanted to help mitigate rocks and dirt from kicking up on the doors and hinges during normal driving. They stick out flush (4 1/2") with the stock tires on the Rubicon, so they should help. Install wasn't too bad, however; (1) No instructions so printed them from Quadratech website. I didn't have a template for the hole that needed drilling on the front passenger side so I had to mount the rail, mark the hole, remove the rail, drill the hole, and then remount. A right angle drill may have made it possible without having to remove the rail. (2) On the 4xe there's a ground wire on the inside of the frame that is too close to this new bolt hole to install the provided washer, so I used a narrower lock washer. (3) The 2 "self tapping bolts" were not really self tappers as the diagram showed on the instructions, so it took a lot of pressure to get them to thread. (4) The provided 1" bolts that go through an existing hole in the frame into provided flag washer were too short to catch the threads, so I had to get 1 1/2" bolts that worked. I used two floor jacks to help the solo install and had to bang a bit with a rubber mallet to get the brackets over the body mounts on both sides, but it wasn't ridiculous. These rails look great and I would have given another star if I had instructions and the proper hardware.
Rock solid, but RIDICULOUSLY difficult to mount the rail/step to the mounting brackets. Unless you have ultra long skinny fingers and three hands, it is very frustrating and time consuming. It’s unfortunate, because it would be an awesome product if it wasn’t for poor design.of the connections. Would not recommend unless you are having a shop install them.
These rails will let you down off road. I purchased these frame mounted rails to improve the protection for my rocker panels over the flange mounted factory rails. In this category they have failed. While off-roading the Jeep slid sideways onto an adjacent rock. It was a solid hit but nothing outrageous, the exact kind I expected these rails to protect from. The result is a 12" seem on my driver front rocker panel from these rails deflecting into the body. If you looking for a set of rock rails to protect your Jeep, these are not the product. They look robust but will not perform. If you already bought them, go buy rocker armor to fit between these rails and your rockers. Your Jeep will thank you.
If you are mall-crawlin these rails do look great and were fairly easy to install even with the extra holes needing to be drilled in the frame. Mine did come scratched where they slid out of the packaging. In terms of rust, they have held up through one Michigan winter so far without issue. A final positive are the square cut outs on the bottom of the rails for a highlift jack, these work well and are a great feature.
