Reviews for MasterTop ShadeMaker Freedom Mesh Bimini Top for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL
Fantastic product. I live in West Texas, and the sun here is ... fierce, to say the least. This shade allows us to leave the Freedom Tops off all summer long, and still protect ourselves and even the Jeep a bit (we've got a cat that roams the neighborhood, but this top keeps that critter out).
At first, I thought that it was a bit "saggy" (especially on the front edge) but it's really not a bother, and you can tuck the lip of the top under your visors. The sag is somewhat purposeful so that the top has some slack while you're dragging.
Product is compatible with my Mopar grab bars, and it's still pretty easy to get the Freedom Tops on and off. The only exception is that the rear outer Freedom Top latches are a bit tough to get to (but not impossible -- you can also loosen the top cover to get to them).
I have a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL, this top fits perfectly. 5 minutes to install. Looks great no sagging.
Took a minute to figure out how to install while keeping the hard top on (instructions aren't super clear). Two people to help with installation makes it a bit easier. Am able to keep the mesh on while having the freedom top on, too, which is great! Just requires pushing the mesh back a little. Great investment to shield from sun!
Very nice looking and working as expected. There is no really easy option to lock the hard top if you are planing to use it together with the net, however if you are not planing to do it very often it is possible with a little stretch. Hopefully it will last long.
Cover was easy to install, especially if you leave all the straps loose until all are attached. I attached the rear straps to a different location than what was recommended, seemed to line up better with the strap angle. Cover does a good job of blocking UV and still allowing some sun to get though. Even with it on, you can access the convertible top clamps to open and close. Makes a great headliner too, think I'll leave mine on full time.
Easy to install and works well. We did notice there was more wind noise with it installed, but not enough to worry about. Blocks the sun very well. Should have bought before my head was sunburned. Tried closing the sunrider, no problems. Recommend
So far the sunshade mesh is working out pretty good. Instructions were not great. Read some others reviews about securing straps by the screw. Which helped.
Price and ease of install
Fits OK, absolutely horrible instructions. Pictures are very small and difficult to see! Almost sent mine back for the lack of instructions. Would of been happy either way with or without it. Works as described.
As a sunshade, it's five stars. But, it makes taking on and off the Freedom Panels difficult. If you're lucky enough to park in a garage and are able to leave your panels off, this is a no brainer because it keeps the sun from beating down on you. Otherwise, its a pain to undo the locks and latches with the sunshade in place. Letting some slack out of the straps helps with the process, but getting the front latches closed is still frustrating.
